The writeup and plans for the FAR are done. CX was kind enough to host them on Nerfhaven. They can be viewed here. The plans are available for download as well as an assortment of videos.

I expect some questions to arise as people read through the writeup and plans. I am creating this thread for those questions. If you have a question regarding the FAR and/or its plans be post it here and I will do my best to answer it quickly

Is it just me, but I cant view the parts list and components summary in the download? It says its an invalid range when I click on the link. Also where can music wire be purchased? I would suppose at a music store but is their an alternative, becasue my local store didnt have any. I was tihnking about jsut using a dart from my blowgun or some other suitable wire, I guess that will work.

You`re right about the hyperlinks on the cover. I have fixed that and will send to CX soon. At the bottom of the screen there are tabs for each sheet of the plans. You can click those or you can jsut page through them with the nav links at the top until you et to the sheet you are looking for.

Music stores don`t sell music wire. You can find it at most any hobby shop. Some craft stores and hardware stores might have it. It is called music ware because it is the same steel used in guitar strings, etc....but much thicker.

If you can you should say to right click and save as when dowloading the plans so you don't have retards like me crashing their computers after opening the file in explorer and then trying to save it.

in the excel file, i believe that we need a username and password to view the animation. If you could either fix this or give us the entry information that would be great.

You should really consider taking that to a toy fair or presenting it to a venture capitalist of some sort. Remember Lonnie Johnson was an aerospace engineer and he caught attention with a plexiglass and PVC "supersoaker." Putting all other compliments aside, that is far and above 10x more professional than anything that's ever been posted on a nerf site EVER.

Anybody have a rough estimate to how much the supplies will cost to make this beast of a gun?

i believe that in an earlier post bolt said around 20 bucks (main spring not included)
so when you add the spring it is around 30 ~ 35...

Yeah around that. An AR spring could be had for $10-15. The entire rifle is made of PVC and we all know thats cheap. I bought a 10 foot pice of each and that was way more than enough. That was probably $10...or less. 1/2" couplers are cheap as dirt. I bought 3 10-pice bags of em for like $1. The music wire is like a $1 or 2 for 3 feet. balsa can be picked up real cheap if you get scraps. A bag or random sizes for $3. Paint $3. Glue $3. E-tape $2. The carbon rod might not be too cheap, maybe $4 for 3 feet. You could easily replace the carbon rod with wood dowels or other common materials.

There are many online stores you can get carbon rod from. Here's one

I had the spring leftover after upgrading my AR's

You can get them from any major AR15 manufacturer (Colt, Bushmaster, Armalite, etc) and also from general gun parts distributors (cheaperthandirt, brownells, etc). Just search for AR15 parts and I`m quite sure you`ll find plenty of sites selling springs.

Here is a sight that sells specialty AR springs (high and reduced power)

If anyone is ordering the springs and/or carbon rod online, please tell me, I would like to order the parts too, then we could split the shipping costs. I'm posting this because I don't have a credit card or paypal to buy online.
