Maiden and Megadeth kick ass, even though Dave Mustaine is like a born again Christian now for some reason. At least he didn't go off and do what Head did. lol.
The first concert I ever went to was Jethro Tull... it was really cool. Classic rock will always have it's place, it just so happens my favorites are mostly metal.

Indeed they were. I saw their 25 minute set on the 2004 Vans Warped Tour here in Toronto. Where did you see them?

I think that they hold the covented place in my heart as my favourite band. Not only do they have that, but they are also an inspiration to my band, since they made their start in my area.

I saw them in Atlanta, GA. They were opening for Rise Against(who was alright).

They played with The Black Maria(who SUCKED), and Brazil(who was alright).

The alexis guy like stripped down to his boxers and tube socks for no good reason. I thought it was funny.

As Ash already said, if you really care about finding out what people here listen to then join the NH AudioScrobbler group and see for yourself. Anyone who was experiencing the delays the last couple weeks at AS will be happy to see that it's all fixed with their new profile server installed.

As far as what I listen to, you can see on my AudioScrobbler profile that I'm currently listening to lots of Boingo, Radiohead, Elliott Smith, Bowie, Zero 7, The Cure, and Bad Religion.

I don't really have a favorite band per se since, like pretty much everyone, I listen to different stuff at different times.

If I had to name someone, I'd go with Boingo I guess. I've been listening to them since the very early 80's and if I haven't gotten tired of them in over 20 years then they're probably alright by me. They're one of those bands that is so much better live - I made it to about 10 concerts before they broke up in '96. As a side note, the first concert I took Julie to was Boingo's farewell halloween concert which I scored pit tickets to. Elfman is a fucking genius. If you look at his 30 year run from the Mystic Knights of the Oingo Boingo days to his current movie score work it's simply amazing how much versatility and talent the guy has.

Oh yeah, everyone who posted something along the lines of "<insert band name here> sucks!" is an asshat. If you would like to post a reasoned argument about the merits of a particular band, fine. If all you're going to do is try to shove your opinion down someone's throat, go fuck yourself. Yes, that applies to sum41 too.

Yeah, man, Elfman is a fucking genious. I can't say I'm a seasoned Oingo Boingo listener, but I am very big fan of Elfman's movie scores. I really love his soundtracks. I'm not saying he's the best out there, but he is one of the best. I am a huge fan of what he does. I still also think that it's amazing that he did Jack's singing voice in Nightmare Before Christamas, not only can he compose well, but he has a really great voice too.

And for all you insulting Sum41, since that seems to be the trend here, they have made leaps and bounds when it comes to their music. Their new album shows vast improvement musically as well as an increased maturity level. I'm not saying that they are this amazing band, but they have definetly gone a long way. Their newer stuff is heavier, more complex, and much more mature than the older stuff. I have to say I am rather proud of them. Also, they did start off in a metal cover band playing covers by Judas Priest, Maiden, Slayer, and Metallica among others. Anyone who can nail all those solos, leads, and rhythyms definetly isn't your run-of-the-mill asshole who can't play thier instruments worth a shit. There has always been a bit of talent buried there, and now it's beginning to surface. Good for them.

I like Boingo also. You probably already know this, but there's a tribute album coming out. Most of the bands on it aren't too appealing, but I'm looking forward to it. The Aquabats do a good live version of The Controller, and a studio recording will be on the tribute.

Right now I'm listening to an LA band called Virgil... probably haven't heard of them(they're still ony in LA;somehow I heard of them even though I live in VA). You can download three songs from their site, and if you really like them, you can order their CD.

I've got to agree with the classic fans. There is some decent stuff today, but with marketing and such, there isn't quite as much passion as back in the day. So, quoting AC/DC, " For those about to rock, I salute you!"

My 2 all-time favourite bands though would have to be Death and Anacrusis. Death for the extraordinary songwriting, extraordinary lyrics and extraordinary frontman, and Anacrusis for the excellent riffs and unpredictability.
