Nope, he's still alive.

Seriously, they said they screwed up the news report. His heart and brain are still functioning.

Oh I see, the Vatican is going to pull a Terry Schiavo. Clever, very clever. But ultimately futile. It's only a matter of time, I can wait. When the time comes, and the dias is empty then a new Supreme Pontif will rise to power!

I take offense to that. The Terry Schiavo case was very depressing, and very emotional. Not really for me myself, but for most of the people around me, and it has been a very distressing time.

Heres my take on it, theres probably 50 others that were in her condition that just didn't get media coverage. Its not like she even knew she was alive. Anyways, they needed to pull the tube so she could play the golden psp to save heaven.

Hahaha, that episode was great.

"Basically, Kenny, you are Keanu Reeves."

And then the episode before that...

"My god our parents are so stupid, so stupid..."

And not to forget the wall :).

I don't see why people are getting so worked up over the whole Shaivo thing and why they are so upset by the pope dying, I'm sure he's happy to move on to a better place. I would just tone down the poking fun a bit because it could really upset somebody.

Your poking fun at two serious events that so many people are getting very emotional about. You don't know if anybody here is going to be really offended by this and someone probably will.  If I were you, I would not post about something like this that you don't really care about and that is covered in so much contraversy.  If I were you, I would change your first post to someting a little less... well... dick-like.  Next time, just keep your mouth shut.

I'm sorry, I fail to see how either of these events are so fucking controversial. The Pope's what? 84? We all knew he was gonna die, we saw it coming, no one should be surprise, the writing was on the wall man! I just think they should let the man go with some dignity in peace and quiet. Why the hell do we need to prolong this circus with life support and hourly updates on the septic levels of his bloodstream? I don't need to know this shit, I know all I need to. He's old, has crazy diseases, and has been the target of an assasination attempt. Three strikes dude, you're out. He had a good run, definitely earned his place among the great Popes, now he just needs to stop show boating and let someone else get a crack at it!

As for that dumb slut Terry Schiavo. How did an anorexic woman who's been in a vegetative state for 15 years become this year's poster girl for Life? I keep seeing all these quotes "we should ere on the side of life", well guess what? She don't have one! Only in this country would a court award someone millions of dollars so that we could keep pumping food into his brain-dead wife for 15 years while there are children EVERYWHERE (this country included) who are starving! How fucked up is that shit? Where's their national media frenzy? Oh, they don't get one. Why? Because they aren't lucky enough to have parents who have their own personal Spritual Advisors. I don't blame the husband for giving them the figurative finger and denying them to be present at the time of death, and then cremate the body when the family wants a catholic funeral. YEAH! PISS ON THEIR SHIT MICHAEL SCHIAVO! Take the money and run dude. Beat and run.

Where was I going with this? Oh, right, Fuck Duce. That about sums it up. I enjoy my dick-like comments. If they offend you, don't read them. Next time you see "Famine" pop up on recent posts just pass it over because you know it will contain offensive, dick-like materials.

Like your mom.

Ok, this "you may offend someone" shit is just too much. If he wants to make fun of it, that's his goddamn right and if you don't like it then don't view the topic. Goddamn when did this entire country start thinking its their business if someone is *gasp* offensive.

And by the way, did anyone pay attention to the fact that Bush, while governor of Texas, signed a bill that makes it possible for a hospital to remove a feeding tube of a brain-damaged child without the parents consent, based on the family's ability to pay? But nevermind them, they're just poor people who don't have ties to religious groups.

I heard that on NPR the other day. Starting to think they're the only real news organization in the country right now.

Bush is a puppet.

An 80-something dude dying is not sad, it's life. The church will find a vibrant new leader to move them forward. Or not, I don't really care.

What I'm pissed about is that Mugabe isn't getting more coverage. That bastard should be the one dying today.

..I really hope you realize that this isn't Famine's first post...

So far I'd have to agree with Famine and Kev, the pope's dying, sure he's a great guy. He had a great run, it's not like he's actually going to "die," I mean, hell he will be dead, but I'm fairly sure that he will "live on" in people's memories.

As to the girl whose in the whole "vegged-out" state.. I'm blanking on her name.. but I have a question for those that are flipping out over this. Can a single person tell me honestly, that you would want to live for 15 fucking years as an almost "literal" vegetable? Having no sense of what's happening, and just costing your family money for the sake of living a fake life. Who the hell would want a "life" like that, if you think about it, it's more of a burden.

Yeah, come to think of it, I definately agree with Famine.

Kev, just curious, as this Mugabe isn't getting any "coverage" who exactly is he?

What about Air America?
Just wondering, do you listen to it any?

I would listen more, but since i'm in the Old Dominion (VA) they don't play that "liberal trash" around here. But i do listen, as it broadcasts live online.

Yeah...

I don't know where the controversy came from, honestly. The woman was braindead and her own husband wanted to just let her go. The only people keeping her alive where her dumbass parents who took 15 years to come to grips with the fact that their daughter might be dead inside. Fuck that man. Why the hell should anyone be kept alive when they are braindead? How is that heart-wrenching? How is that controversial? I don't know. I really don't. It was a damn shame she was kept alive as long as she was... it was just prolonging everyone's grief. That's what I call media-hype bullshit.

As for the pope... well, I don't really know what he did for anyone, so I have no real comment for it. All I have to say is, for a man who is supposed to be more or less the godliest person on earth (or the holiest to keep from idolizing the man) he sure did need a lot of security around him all the time. I'm not going to elaborate on that.

Edit: Davis is a homo.

Edit: Edit: I find it funny that Davis is more or less making a statement on the pope that would somewhat imply his affiliations with a religious group. It seems he took offense to Famine's comment and went as far as to try and take a cheap shot at Famine in order to more or less stick up for the pope or catholocism, one or the other. The reason I find this funny is because he has Mr. Hanky the Christmas Poo as his avatar. If none of you find this in the least bit funny/hypocritical... well, then I've wasted my time pointing it out.

He's the sitting president of Zimbabwe who continues to hold power through terrorism against his own people. He has recently been accused of manipulating food supplies in order to influence the election which his party won yesterday.

Famine sorry if I came off harsh, I was a bit dick-like also. Let me clear some things up.

I personally don't have a real problem with either the Shaivo case or the Pope dying. And the pope dying isn't really contraversial but, the whole Shaivo deal is. I agree that people are getting too worked up about it but it is extremely contraversial. I was just trying to say that I thought it was likely that someone would get upset by this topic and the way that people are talking about it. Judging by the posts that have followed, people don't really care either and I was wrong. I just didn't really understand the purpose of your first post and was trying to say that next time I a little more might be necessary.

Sorry that I kind of blew up in your face and realize that I totally deserved to get flamed. I hope there are no hard feelings, oh and I am going to change my first post to make it more clear.

On the shiavo thing or whatever her name is... For those who are religous, it doesn't matter if there in a coma forever and are never going to wake up, or if someone is living off a machine or tube. You do not pull the plug. It is gods duty to end your life not someone elses. God chooses when someone should go in a situation like this. Not other people. My two cents worth..

I know i wouldn't want to be a cactus for 15 years...If she's brain dead and her husband claims she wouldn't of wanted to be like this i would go by what she said. Whoever is claiming in the media that her husband wanted to end it for the insurance money. I don't belive that either.

Yeah, God tried to choose and end her life and man kept her alive with machines. Let me put it this way: God has been around for a great long while, correct? Now, 80 years ago there were no machines that would have kept this woman alive... back then people would have said "God chose to take this woman and end her life", now because man has created machines to prolong her life we have taken the choice out of God's hands and into our own. Now when god chose to end her life, we flipped God the bird and said "Fuck you big man, we are keeping her as long as we want". Back then it was God's choice to end her life. Nowadays, we are going to say that it was man who chose to end her life because we took her off the machines that man created to keep her alive. It seems to me that keeping her alive with man-made machines is more against God than pulling the plug. It seems to me that we just prolonged God's decesion to end her life and just now decided to say "sorry for the mistake, God, you can have her now. We are done". Something about that seems wrong. Something about that seems sacrilegious.

(Just to keep things clear: I am in no way stating my religious beliefs here.)

Ever since he got sick, I figured this would become another Schiavo thing. They would keep him alive, if they could. I don't really tie into this though, as I'm Lutheran, so I so just keep my mouth shut. But, at this moment, Islamic Jihad and whatnot is probably celebrating a Christian loss in their spider holes. I guess this event's meaning just depends on who you are...

My reply/ response to Famine;

The Pope is dying. Bummer.

I don't know where Terri Schiavo plopped into the conversation, but this is a very good lesson for you younger ones who, right now, feel that you are invincible and death is probably the furthest thing from your mind.

Work out a living will. As soon as possible. You never know.

As for me, since the moment I was able to, I have had a Do Not Resuscitate, Power of Attorney, and Living Will should the unavoidable occur a little sooner than expected. So basically, "keep the plugs out, let him fizzle, then pass the organs around!"

It'll save my family loads of grief and bickering. Personally, I agree with Ash on this one. The only reason one would want to keep a vegetative child in that condition for any length of time is for themselves. Kind of selfish, in my personal opinion.

I personally would abhor being a burden on my family by being hooked up like some Neo Pet, and having them contend with the stress of hoping for a very long-shot miracle to happen. Not that I don't believe in miracles, I do, but to attempt to move the hand of God with a jump-start device (rhetorically, the machines) is a bit on the far side.

So the Pope is going to die. It happens. We're glad he got to serve for what, 26 years or so? And he didn't stay in his little crystal palace. This Pope got around. He made himself available. Something that was missing all the years before.

Rock on, John Paul II. Have a nice flight.
