After playing Call of Duty for two hours, and being amazed at the Browning .30 caliber belt-fed machine gun, t suddenly dawned on me that the same belt could be used with the Maverick. So, I took the turret apart, and took out the middle part. I marked notches for where to cut, and cut the outer shell off, leaving about half of the little 1/2" sections that hold the barrels. After filing them down a bit, I took 2 3/4" of CPVC, and attached it in the center of the cylinder. Then I threaded the metal pole back in. I cut the casing of the cylinder out, and used the semi-semi-circular pieces for extra length of the 1/2" sections.

The only problem I now have is-how to seal it? The air just dies after it goes out the plunger. I need some suggestions and comments.

I'm sorry I don't have pictures. I'll try to get some up later.

~Sinfil

EDIT: The belt is made of 2" segements of CPVC and duct tape. To make: Lay down duct tape on cylinder. Place two in shells in, and wrap another layer of duct tape on.

It looks like its doable from what I could pick through your post...but I'm sorry, I really just don't understand it. When can you have pictures up?

Keep in mind, however, that the stock Maverick already doesn't have a great seal between the turret and the plunger, and you can fix that with O-rings but then it gets ugly. Not really sure about your design though, again, pictures.

Yeah, pictures would help...Sounds like a practical mod. The only try I can think of for the seal would be what AirApache said, and go with the o-rings. I'm interested to see where this goes, keep us informed.

I think I understand it. He's pretty much creating an endless barrel that runs off the existing one. That's mighty awesome. I am jealous.

Add something on the back of each barrel on the chain that catches like on a rototrack or chainblazer. Sounds cool, I wanna see how the hell you did this.

Thanks, guys. Right now, the only problem I have is getiing the belt barrels to come onto the turrett in the same place, and the seal. I'm going away for the better part of today, but I'll try to brainstorm ideas whille I'm gone.

EDIT:flambo, I've never seen a rototrack or chainblazer belt, but was thinking about how they worked...how do they work?

The Chainblazer has an orange gear in the middle that rotates when you pull back the handle to fire it. The Barrels on the chain fall into the grooves in the gear so when it rotates one moves out and another moves in.

It also presses the back of each barrel against the end of the plunger tube.

it sounds mighty awsome, but the air seal probably would detract from the power.

Edit: I dont have UO ,so i wouldent know.
I was tired and thought about the thompson.

It's almost done, but I'm having trouble with the seal. I hope that some 2 mm foam craft sheet and hot glue will remedy this. Feel free to try this on your own, for I don't have a lot of time to do modifications.

Oh, and buddynerfer, the .30 caliber M1919A6 machine gun is onl available in United Offense, isn't it now?

I think you have a great idea. I'd like to see pics when you're done, I just did an air restrictor removal on mine and it sucks. I hope yours works.

Editing your post's is better than double posting, so try to only post one reply in a row. Edit if you have to.

Okay, after giving my friend instructions, and walking him through it over the phone, he's gonna try to fix the problem about the seal also. But, for you guys who wanted one, he took a pic of the gun. If I have time, I'll scan in a better one later today.

The first yellow things are the insides of the cylinder. The ones after it are supporst taken from the extra, unused casing. To get it so you keep the orange caps that had the barrel posts on them, just take a sharp knife, and cut between the little holes. This removes the post, and a good center section, which allows for a better air flow.

Sqiggs, please don't make two posts in a row. Edit button. Sinfil, great job. I don't have a suggestion for the seal, all I can say for now is: Awesome. Hope it works out.

Update time:

I tries using o-rings I made out of 2 mm foam craft sheet. I took one, loaded a 1.5" dart into a shell, pressed them firmly...and got 35'!

So I made 5 more, and glued them onto the orange caps. I loaded a shotgun shell into a shell...and got 7"!

Which is bad. I currently have it disassembled into sections, and am removing all the foam crap from the caps. My next idea will be to make another six o-rings, and seal themby putting hot glue on the OUTSIDE of the caps, not inbetween the caps and the foam.

Have any of you guys tried it yet?

On the picture of the mav., do you see where that silver "N-strike" logo thing is (top left of the gun)? Well, you could put a small-ish foam wheel there, like people use for RC airplanes (I mean the good ones not thoughs crap $20.00 ones!). But also put it on a spring so that it's not to tight or anything. That plus the O-ring and it should have a lot better seal. This would requier a lot of accurate cutting or dremmiling.
My consern would be how to make the chain...

ORRRRR

You could not post in old topics. In fact, he gave up on that gun and gave it to me. I think I then gave it back and he put barrels on it. And yes, that was possible.
