Just curious if anyone here has modded their Xbox. I couldn`t resist the temptation and gutted mine about 3 months ago. Tossed that crappy 8 gig for a 300 gig HDD and installed a Xenium Ice mod chip. Currently running Xecuter 2 4983 bios with Avalaunch as my dashboard. As of now I have 63 Xbox games and the HDD is a liuttle over half full. In addition to that I have 2700 NES, 1200 SNES, 5000 GB, 400 GBA, and a few N64 games on it. I dumped my entire MP3 collection on it...about 6000 songs. Stuck a few movies on it. Oh...and a web browser. Surf the net from the Xbox. And with all this coolness you can still boot up the MS dashboard and use it like a typical Xbix....if you wanted. The part I like most is being able to network to the PC and edit gamefiles. Like the DOA games......

I also gave it a subtle paintjob and some internal lighting. The translucent X on top glows green and the button ring is blue instead of green.

WOW! I've read about cosmetic mods in xbox magazine and various liquid cooling ideas but Nothing near this ambitious. I think I might just make one. Editing gamefiles?? If you have some spare time you could make a shitload off that. I'm very impressed and I beg that you please stay around and share your developments in engineering concepts of all sorts.

I've done it. I'm still working on figuring out a way to light up my clear jewel. I think a round cathode would work great. I also put 3mm blue and green LEDs in the breakaway cables. If you want to know how, just ask. ;)

Yeah, my brother does them for a little extra dosh on the side. I personally don't see the interest, make the Xbox computer into more of a computer, when you could just buy ... a computer ...

But yeah, $50 for modding, and all entirely legal.

True. But a lot od console games are not available for PC and you can`t have 4 guys playing on a PC at the same time. Its also nice to be able to carry it around.

You probably don`t want to hear about my computer.......

Oh, I get your point entirely, but there are lots of ways around that, although not entirely smart. I see the appeal, I loved CBFD on N64 and a lot of different games on different consoles, but there are emulators, and there are lan parties and such.

I'm also not a huge fan of controller joysticks either  ;)

My awesomely new and fast computer keeps freezing on Firefox and any version of Photoshop. Oh, and if you read this C, its 512 DDR, not 256

You seem very anti game console. I was strictly a PC gamer until about a year ago. I still play a lot on PC single play, online, and at LAN parties. I built my current PC to get the max out of Doom 3 and Halflife 2. But I enjoy playing consoles just as much. I also hated the dual stick controls but once I got used to it I like it a lot.

There are very obvious advantages to both

Speaking about computers can you help me with this problem: I have a Dell computer with an Intel Pentium 4 processor 2.4 GHz, 768MB of RAM (2 128MB and 1 512MB), Nvidia GeForce 5500OC 256MB Intergrated sound card (im still working on that), and a 40GB HD. Ok now having said that ill get to the problem: when I'm doing my regular stuff i.e. playing, web surfing it crashes sometimes saying: PFN_LIST_CORRUPT or PAGE_FAULT_IN_NON_PAGED_AREA its getting really annoying when im playing BF1942 and Desert Combat if you can help me with this problem it will be most apreciated.

P.S:Hopefully when i get the money i can start building my own computer by ordering the parts from Newegg.com.

It's cause it's a dell. ;)

Just kidding, do you have 56k internet? Do you have an anti-virus program and a spyware blocker. If not you might want to do a virus scan or search for spyware on your computer, that stuff can really give you problems.

Page faults usually occur with faulty/corrupt/bad RAM. I would check your memory. Maybe take 1 stick out at a time a try your PC for errors. Also make sure you have the 512 in the first slot with the 2 128's following. Excessive heat could cause your RAM/PC to misbehave without it actually being "bad". Try taking the cover off and see how it does.

Is your RAM by chance made by Crucial?

Good luck

Boltsniper I have the 512 in the first slot but what do you mean "follow by 128's" can you show me a diagram?

Also no the RAM I have is not Crucial the 512 i have is a Kingston and the 128 I can't remember the name of the brand.

Most to least likely:

1. RAM

2. HDD

3. HDD controller

The larger larger sticks should always go in the first slots. You probably know that though. I doubt that would cause an error though..would just effect the speed.

I only asked if it was Crucial because they have a history of bad QC and faulty sticks.

I still think the error is memory related...

If it has been a long term problem, hardware conflict with the operating system maybe?

Here's mine, no modchips, HDDs, or stuff like that. Just some basic stuff, CCFL ring under the jewel, orange LED in controller dongle, 12v fan mod, and a blue LED in the controller jewel. I apologize in advance for the shitty pictures.

God damn thats bright! Sweet though. The LED's in the controller is a pretty good idea. Might try that myself....even though I don`t use the MS controllers much....

It's actually not as bright as you'd think, it's because it's too bright for my little logitech webcam. If you're interested in the controller mod, I'd reccomend getting a nice (translucent) 3rd party controller and wiring a few LEDS into that. MS Controllers usually arent that translucent, its mainly just foggy. If you're too lazy to mod a controller, I've seen one that already has about 5 wired into it that you can buy for around $25. Our lead guitarist has one to play Halo 2 with on XBL, and he's pretty awesome at it. Which, in turn probably means it's not a bad controller.

P.S. Thanks for the compliment!

When you die, if you get a choice between going to regular heaven or pie heaven, choose pie heaven. It might be a trick, but if it's not, mmmmmmm, boy
