Does anyone no a way to make you own jewels with out having to spend a fortune by getting them done by someone else? I started to mod my controllers awhile ago but got stuck on that.

Here's a good way to do it. The only thing I would do differently is instead of using tape to take the jewel off, use a hairdryer and warm up the back of the jewel. Once its really hot, take some floss, and slowly work it around the underside of the jewel, best method ever.

Although I can't get pic's up right now, I have a modded xbox. I have a clear pink shell, the jewel glow's bright red, the power led is white, and when there is an error, its blue, and one of my controllers has a led in it, but I can't find the controller. I am soon to have an Ice chip, I am not sure which one, I am still in the process of looking.

I know it could hold that much, I just didn't know they made that may games for any of those systems.

Theres more than that many. Way more. Thats just what I have.

There is an appication called Boxplorer that lets you organize and navigate the drive just like Windows Explorer. You also can configure te dashboard any way you wish, which makes it easy to access the Xbox games, Emulators, and all the other applications.The emulators themselves have pretty good search and retrieve functions in them. If you are just paging down the list...it can take about 5 mintues to find something. You can also mark your favorite games for easy access. To be honest I don`t play the NES, SNES, or GB games much. They are just cool to have on there and fun to screw with when playing with friends. All the emulators have an option to double the emulation speed when the right trigger is depressed. This works from any controller and is fun to do when the other person is playing...... I do play the GBA stuff quite a bit. I had the Minish Cap before it came out and was playing that for a long while.

JSkater - I`m pretty anal about the controllers I use. I really only like the Microcons. The older ones. Too bad they aren`t translucent...... I have seen the "afterglow" controller and some others that light up. I`d rather have a good controller than a "cool" one. Both is ok though.......

One (stupid) question for anybody who's modded their 'Box: Can you put full PC games on it, such as UT2004? That would be so awesome.

The xbox file system is different from PC's so you can`t just rip a PC game to it and run it. You will need some sort of shell enviornment(ie and emulator). There are emulators to run DOS, Win95/98, and Linux based games. As far as I know there are no emulators for XP. PC games can be converted to Xbox. I don`t know how to do it though. The quake series and the Doom series (not Doom 3) are "available" for direct play on the Xbox. Unreal Championship 2 comes out soon for Xbox anyway.....

Yeah, I know, but UT2004 and UC2 are very different. UC2 is one hot mamba jamba though (it's the only game I'm really anticipating right now, actually). No biggie though. I can survive just playing it on my PC.

The Xemium Ice chip was $50. The 300 gig harddrive was $200. You can put whatever size you want in it. You can get a 200 gig now a days for like $80. You can also leave the stock 8 gig drive in there. It will hold about 2 or 3 games depending on the size. Thats really all you need to buy. You need to "acquire" the firmware..... This is probably the most difficult part if you don`t know where to look.

Pay someone else?!?!?! How insulting...... Just kidding. I did it myself. I have a minor in Electrical Engineering so I`m pretty compitent with electronics. Not that its hard.......... There are only 9 pins to solder and the pads are already prepped. They also make a solderless adapter that simply bolts to the chassis. Takes about 5 minutes......

In your opinion, overall, how hard was it to get everything set up. I mean flashing the chip, downloading the dashboard and all of that stuff. Did it take you long to understand and learn how to do it?

Its really not that hard. Installing the chip is pretty sraightforward. There are plently of good tutorials to take you through it step by step. If you are going to install a chip you may as well do the HDD upgrade too. You will be sorry down the road if you don`t. It is easier to do it all at the same time. The solderless headers are very easy to install. I did one for one of my friend. They are a little finicky about placemement and may require some jiggling and readjustment to get seated right.

Getting good copies of bios and dash files is the hardest part for most. I can help you out with this if you need it. PM me. Although not necessary it is very helpful if you are able to network your Xbox with your PC. You can either hook your Xbox to a router or directly connect it to your PC with a crossover cable. Use any FTP program to exchange files. Thsi is how you will place bios files, dashboards, applications, non-xbox games, and any other files on you Xbox. You can also backup your Xbox files on your PC, which is a good idea.

The Xenium ICE is a very good chip. It is preflashed with the Xenium OS which makes it very easy to setup right after the chip is installed. I have had zero problems with it. Some people have reported problems with the chip not working with some games. I have not experienced that problem as long as the gamea are appropriately patched.

And when I was plugging the power cord into the XB, I got shocked! It wasn't bad, but it hurt! I don't suggest it to newbies. I ended up buying an xbox for myself

Dude, seriously, the best tip I can give you, is don't spend your whole day on the site, and you won't post useless shit. Just check what has been posted in, and go about your day. Well for no good reason that I can think of (except just to do it), I remodded my Xbox. I installed the Xecuter 3 5th gen chip. This is the most advanced modchip available for the Xbox. It has 2megs of flash memory for multiple bios's. The X3 bios is chock full of features. You have so much control you can even change the colors of the flubber animation and the fan speed among many other things. The X3 control panel replaces the stock front face and has a switch bank for siwtch between bios memory banks. It also has a large high res LCD screen that displays pertient information about your system and can also display user defined strings. 2 USB ports are also on the control panel and piggy back off controller ports 3 and 4. This makes it very easy to plug a flash drive into the Xbox and transfer files.

While I had the Xobox open I ran so wire lighting around the inside of the X on the lid. The light is blue but shines deep green shining through the translucent green.


This means I have my Xenium Ice chip leftover and not being used. Anyone need one?

Wow, that is an awesome looking Xbox, right now all I'm running is a Matrix(I think) chip with the stock drive. I want to get a bigger HD but in about a year or so the Xbox will be out dated so yeah. Is the Xenium better than Matrix? Also how much was that set up?

All I know about the Matrix is that its old and only works on v1.0 and v1.1 Xbox's. I`m sure the Xenium has more features than the Matrix. The Xenium Ice has the Xenium OS preflashed on it. This makes it really easy and conveneient to network your Xbox, perform system functions, flash bios's, etc...

I think it will be a good while before the Xbox gets replaced. They have yet to reach the performance limit of the Xbox hardware...although you`d think they would be getting close. Xbox 2 or Xbox 360 or whatever they are gonna call it, is not slated for release anytime soon.

The X3 package was $55. That includes the chip and al wiring necessary to install it including the pin header. If you need the solderless header...it is $25 for some reason. The X3 front panel was $60. You do not need this to use the X3 chip but it is pretty sweet. I figured why not go all the way with it. I paid $50 for the Xenium Ice last year. I beleive they are around $44 or so now.

I did not use the solderless adapter with the Xenium. It came with one but I haven`t the slightest idea where it is.... I just soldered a pin header on the board. It really isn`t that hard. You could probably order a solderless adapter for under $10 if you really wanted one.

The Xenium Ice consists of:
-- Xenium Ice Modchip
-- Remote mount LED
-- Remote LED Cable
-- Do and ground cable



Currently, the chip is still flashed with X2 4983, Evox M8, and M7 bioses.

I was thinking around $30. A new one runs about $45 right now.
