Which guns are you interested in? There are several new guns you can still get at Target and the like that work quite well. The AT2k is a good starter gun, and easy to mod. Target has two-packs for $10.
Welcome to NH.

They rereleased the AT3K as a TRU exclusive. It's $20, though. You get two of them for that price.

I don't have any tips on mods except to search Google and this site before asking wether there are mods for that gun or not.

But tips on posting are reading the Code of Conduct, going easy on the jokes and not taking any insults too seriously because there all pretty much tough love.

Have fun here,

What are you talking about? He's not asking for a mod for a specific gun, he's asking what he should get to start out, and there really is no easy to find info on that.

I'm pretty new too, but here's what I've found as far as the guns to look out for- First of all the crossbow. I am lucky enough that someone in my squad of minions has one and doesn't care about it (or know how much it's worth), so I'm getting one for free, but apparently they can run about $100. Also, the AT3k seems to be a good gun to have, and since it's still being produced it is much cheaper. The new Nerf Nite Finder has some nice internals and has become a sidearm favorite, and is only $6. The N-Strike system's Titan can be modded to fire the greatest range of any nerf gun yet, but at the cost of a horrible reload time (when I mod mine I plan on making it pretty much a one-shot-then-drop kind of gun).

Also, if you're a fan of style, like me, you should pick up a Maverick. Wussy wussy internals, but dang that gun is cool.

You should read through this site's modifications, it'll give you a good idea of the basic mod as well as what to look for in a good gun.

I know what hes asking for, I was just trying to give him other advice also.

As well as many of the guns and suggestions listed above. A few other guns that are in production such as:

Lanard Blast Bazooka
Big Salvo
First Shot
Tech Target (pistol almost exactly like the Lock and Load, but just differant cosmetics)
New and old Nite Finder ( no differance really)
Maverick ( just plain fun to use)
N-STRIKE
Ruff Stuff Double Shot (only at K-Mart, extremely fun to use)
Varitey of Ball Blasters (not really worth it unless indoor)
Secret Strike Pocket Blasters ( really good for integrations/add ons) (cheap too)

There probably a few more than that, but thats all I can remember for now. There are a few guns worth looking for that are out of production. Such as the LnL (Lock n' Load), X-box (Crossbow), SuperMaxx5000, SSII (Sharpshooter II), SS2 (Secretshot 2), SuperMaxx750, SuperMaxx3000, A-Storm (Arrowstorm), SuperMaxx1500, Blastfire, PC (Powerclip) and EaB (Expand a Blast). Although these guns are great, you don't need to go out of your way to get them. There are many guns that can do just as well, or top these guns in performance. Many just prefer them because of the old-skool style, or pimp-style (in the case of the LnL). But really, don't go out of your way and pay 30-70$ for these. The AT2k can replaces the SM1500, and its in a smaller package. The SM3k bests alot of those guns, and has 6 shots. Just look around, and get what you can get, and mod the crap out of them. You don't need super cool, rare, extreme range guns to be a good nerfer. Just learn how to play, and develop your own tactics, and take advantage of what you have.

I suggest reading many of the articles on this website, such as:
http://nerfhaven.com...?showtopic=1633
http://nerfhaven.com...?showtopic=1634
http://nerfhaven.com...?showtopic=1610
P.S. These aren't under the link "articles" on the front page, you have to go to the forums and scroll down.

Although these are just a few, don't be limited to them, read all the articles if possible. Although I have been nerfing for years, every once and awhile, I read some, and learn something new. Read these articles, they are from veterans that just want to help you.

I also suggest checking out the mods on this site, and checking out other nerf sites, such as:

http://www.NerfWorld.com
http://www.NerfHQ.com (although temporarily handicapped to a certain hack attack)
http://www.NerfCenter.com

These sites can help you out. And remember listen to what everyone says. Even if they are brand new at nerf, they could have something to say that is worth listening. Always take advice aswell, it only costs your time. Just have fun. Don't worry about being flamed (although it shouldn't happen), people that flame are just angry that tey aren't as creative and inventive as you are. Unless you do something wrong of course. To stay on everyones good side, go and read the Code of Conduct, and just use common sense. We would attack you for just one mistake, but just stay limited to few to none.

Just read articles, learn nerf physics, and just listen to others, and you should do fine. Check local stores every week or so, and buy as much as non-abnormally as possible. Remember, a good nerfer is not one who has a good gun, and accuracy, but the one that has knowledge of what he is doing. Also, check out how to make stefans here:

j/k, had to do it :nugget:

Also read this guide, it can help you alot:

Just have fun, and Nerf On!
