As for the iPod shuffle, it sounds perfect for your needs. Apple is a great company and their products are pretty damn sweet.

I have an ipod mini, but I accidentally cracked the screen a bit. It's really bothering me. I was wondering if someone knows how i could possibly repair this problem. Thanks for any help.

I take it you didn't purchase the insurance or this isn't a legit purchase?

Good choice though, I'm about to buy an Xtra sometime soon. The 60 gig, but I'm going to mod it so I can use it as a flash drive.
I understand your point though. Those things are expensive. I have a 64 meg Rio, I added a 256 card to it. It's nice, and I'm not worried about losing it when I'm hiking and such.

Actually, the iPod Shuffle has a non-random setting. I've tried it; it works well.iPods rock, but not the Shuffle. You can't choose what song you want to play, it's always on shuffle. Also, Apple screwed up when they programmed the randomization. Sometimes it will think it didn't play a song that it just played, and it will repeat the song multiple times. There was an article about it in the local newspaper, and the reporter bought one and was completely unsatisfied. He said sometimes it will repeat the same song 3-6 times in a row. You should either get a Mini, or get something not by Apple. Try an iRiver MP3, they have one that holds 512 MB (0.5 GB) and is only slightly longer than the 256 (0.25 GB) version. You can probably hack it to hold more, just Google it. Those iRiver MP3 players are TINY!
I also must say that the Shuffle is cheaper/better working than MANY other players I have seen and/or used for the same price, especially the 1G version.

Apples products are expensive. All the time. Go with a company that doesnt pay to have their stuff advertised in other advertisements and you'll save money and lose little in terms of satisfaction.
I still want to kill Apple for their little "Vampire Hunter Playlist" plug in Blade Trinity. Because we all know that having earbuds in wouldnt help Vampires sneak up on you or anything.

Iron's partially right. Sometimes it's good to have a Mini, they are considerably smaller and lighter. But I still think my 20GB is tiny as hell. I still say don't get a Shuffle. Get something else. Like those iRivers I were talking about...I disagree. The Ipod Mini is the biggest ripoff out there. There is not much space, but it's not worth it it to just put a few of your songs on it, like the shuffle is designed to do. Either get a shuffle or go all the way and get a 20 gig.

I'm not a huge creative fan myself. To the sound quality remark, that's gotta be bullshit. It should only depend on the headphones, files and possibly the headphone jacks [the only thing that may differ between brands] and not vary "much much" between brands. That's bullshit.i recently bought a Zen Touch from creative and it is the same as an I-pod just a little bigger and a lot cheaper.

Actually it depends on the hardware and software the player uses. Sound quality can be VERY different between brands.notorious_oxide, on Feb 13 2005, 09:05 PM, said:

I dissagree. I'm all for my Mini. The size difference really does it for me. 4gigs is all I need anyway, so having the size and color I want really is a plus.I disagree. I actually am really pleased with my mini because it is small and I've used up about 8/10 of the space, and thats prolly all I'll ever listen to, and since I run its quite effective (I asked for a small mp3 player that I could run with and got the mini, so hey, I'm content).
THere is a system out there for every person's need, so don't start firing mortars at each player...
