Chain Blazer
Coral Viper
Manta ray
NB-1 Missle Blaster
Rattler
Razor Fin
Secret Shot
Secret Shot 2
Triple Strike
Wrist Blitzer

Secret Shot II

Generally referred to as the "Secret Shot 2" to distinguish it from the SharpShooter II when abbreviated.

Anyhow, that's a gun which will fetch a reasonable price. As is the Manta Ray. Possibly the Chain Blazer, though that fluctuates wildly.

You have some nice ones there. The triple strike, manta ray, chainblazer, and both secret shots are proably the nicest in my opionion. Those ones are proably "rare" in the sense of being hard to find. They are also proably the best as far as stock use. I'd hold onto em. ;)

NerfWorld isn't very accurate. I for one am on top of most of the prices, and those aren't always the best.

Anyway, all those guns have some sort of value. The manta, chainblaser, both secret shots and the triple strike will get you some pretty decent coin. The others won't earn you as much, but if you put them in a lot on Ebay then you could make a little bit.

I dont know how "rare" SS2s are, but I know they are damn fine guns. Stick some brass on one and you have, in my opinion, one of the finest long range weapons in nerf.

Are you sure? It doesn't seem like that a brass barrel would help. How far does it shoot with this mod?

Im pretty sure it has the same tank as a sm5k. I modded mine by plugging the release valve and putting a breech loading brass barrel (cant remember the length, maybe around 8") on it and easily got ranges over 100 feet (although I never did a specific range test). Heck, I think it actually gets ranges better than my 5k since the internals were all so compact. It's accuracy was great too.

NerfWorld isn't very accurate. I for one am on top of most of the prices, and those aren't always the best.

By "on top of those prices" do you mean you try to buy them cheap and pawn them off at top price to the less fortunate?

I wrote that section, and it is intended as a guideline for people who are prospective buyers to give them an idea of what a good price to try to get those blasters would be. As a seller, you may want to sell your Xbow for $100, but for the buyers I suggested looking for one at $35. It *is* possible, as many people have found, to find a good deal. I think I was generally faithful to the supply/demand curve of each blaster, and as observant you say you've been to eBay and the local thrift stores / garage sales, I have been too.

Anyways, since many of those aren't on the list since they aren't very commonly asked about, I'll name some fair prices and reccomendations for those blasters:

Chain Blazer- $10. Mod the chain to shoot stefans and stretch the spring, you'll have a gun that's better than the Maverick if a little cumbersome and less dependable.
Coral Viper- $3. This gun is weak and gimmicky.
Manta ray- $15-$20. It's kind of rare and sought after since it's about the only blaster that we allow to be doubled as a shield.
NB-1 Missle Blaster- $3. Old school but not especially great.
Rattler- $5. You're better off with a Rachetblast, the trigger-operated version. The Rattler isn't very popular.
Razor Fin- $4. It's like a SSII but weaker. Looks ugly and has a weird trigger too.
Secret Shot- $6-$8. It's a classic, but not really the best pistol. Someone will probably want it out of nostalgia.
Secret Shot 2- $15-$20. It's one of the more popular blasters, I would tell you to hold onto it and mod it.
Triple Strike- $10. It takes forever to pump and the tanks are prone to leaking.
Wrist Blitzer- $3. A novelty at best, an embarrassment at worst.
Douple Crossbow- $5. It's a simple push-blaster, not very popular except for the fact that people think it will be similar to the real Crossbow.
Rapid Fire 20- $15. It's used, and you can buy them for $20 new. I'd keep it to mess around with.
At3k- $10. You can still buy them at liquidation prices at some stores anyways. I'd suggest doing a PETG barrel mod like CXWQ did.

If anyone feels like making their own amendments or comments, feel free.

The rapid fire 20 is a fun gun with a great machine gun sound, but it's not that effective in nerf battles. The single shot mode is not that accurate and shoots inconsistant distances. The rapid fire mode is the best for short distnaces and sweeping across a moving/difficult to hit target. Although, half way through, it looses much of it's power. I find it best to shoot 2 or 3, pump up and shoot some more. I still have not tried to modify this one, but I can imaging it could get some serious hits if it shoots longer range.

It sounds like your RF20 is broken. It really is quite a good gun if you modify it. But the two I had have both broken for no apparent reason.

I feel that NerfWorld is rather accurate, and all I saw unreasonable in Janga's list was an AT3K for 10 USD :P , You could sell the AT3K and RF20 for 15-25 dollars on eBat, probably. I'd keep the SS2, and sell the SS1 and Chainblazer in a lot. That could get you, I dunno, around 25 dollars. The rest of the lot is worth only about 10-15 dollars based on performance.

EDIT: eBay

Boy I still see $40 rapidfire 20's on ebay selling. If you want a lot of money, go to ebay. You get very good prices if you sell them separately. At3k's don't sell too well though, even on ebay.

Janga, i think your list says "the current market for nerf guns". I believe you're trying to tell us what those guns are worth. While some of your reccomendations, the current market for many of those guns is incorrect.

For instance, the Triple Strike. I've seen several of those go from anywhere in the range of 14-30. Yes, it may have some small problems; but for the most part people like them. Guns like the Chainblazer,At2k,rf20 and secret shot are just a few that id say are off.

Please, believe me on this one. I've been selling and trading guns since the days of NO. I've probably sold/traded with atleast 25% of the people on these forums. I know alot of people use your pricing guide. I really wish i could help you guys out a little on that.

I'm sorry, maybe I'm getting a little old and forgetful, but doesn't the chainblazer already shoot stefans? I'm pretty sure mind does...

The only problem with the chainblazer is the limitation to chain size (if the chain is too long it will simply skip and jam) and it is rather prone to breakage (i've seen 4 of them go). I modded a couple so that the four barrels were more or less permanantly attatched to the spinning mechanism... kinda took away the whole chain aspect of the gun. I called it the "blazer". yes, corny, I know.

Let me reiterate, that guidebook is for BUYERS primarily. The only reason someone would buy a RF20 on eBay for $40 when it's @ TrU for $20 is sheer ignorance. Or perhaps they're a mangled leper who is afraid to go out in public.

Anyways, as far as eBay goes, I'm sure IS would back me up when I say that the most profitable way to sell Nerf is in small lots, 3-4 guns tops. Any more than that, the large numbers start scaring people away. You can bundle 1 good, sought after blaster with some mediocre ones and make alot more than the sum of all sold seperately. And, huge lots do get pricey but when you divide it out gun by gun it's not that great usually.

Small lots work because someone sees a blaster they want, and start bidding. When the price goes up, the extra blasters help soothe their conscience. "Sure, a Manta Ray for $60 is a bit steep. But it comes with a Secret Shot 1, Wrist Blitzer and a Rattler! That's only like, $15 per gun so I'm getting a good deal. Plus, I'm buying in a lot so I'm saving on shipping!" See, even though the SS1, Wrist Blitzer and Rattler aren't good blasters, bundling increases the price people are willing to spend on the Manta Ray more than you would see if you sold the 3 others seperately.

So, if you wanna go through the hassle of securing a sellers license on eBay and dealing with that auction hassle, go for it- you'll probably be able to make it the most profitable. But if you don't play your cards right, and the market doesn't smile favorably upon ye, you'll not do so well. Good luck whatever you do, but in the meantime remember the Nerf World buyer's market is a guide only.

Thanks to everyone whos helping me out so far.

Maybe i'll try to sell the manta ray on ebay. It seems theirs a few people who want it.

I personally dont like it, because I play with one shot kill, guns count.

You think that go for a good amount, by itself, or if that would just get me a couple of bucks?

Kind of off topic but even if you mod your Rf20 with the spring stretching mod, you won't get much of a better gun. I've discussed some of this with ompa, and the only REAL way to increase the power of your shots is to replace the spring entirely with a stronger spring. A stretched spring will deliver you a minimal amount of extra resistance, and it will eventually bend back to normal. It's a pain in the ass to open it up again.

Yes, Ebay is the best way to sell. Facts are facts, auctions bring out the most money.

Yes, small lots do go for the most. I prefer selling single guns because you occasionally get a good BIN price.

As for the forums, the whole system is crazy. Prices change all the time on alot of guns. The better guns (airjets, supermaxx's, lnls, x-bows, etc, etc) prices usually stay around the same price with bumps in December and April. You RARLEY find someone who wants to buy one of the lesser guns, so usually (as janga said) guns like the coral viper, wristblitzer, slighshot, etc, etc go straight to ebay. Mid-level guns like the Chainblaser, Secret shot, manta ray, mad hornet, triple strike, etc, etc all sell great on ebay. You're not going to get top dollar for a gun like that on the forums, so your best bet is to throw them on ebay with a good BIN price and a lower starting bid. High-end guns and NIB guns are definitley an Ebay item. With the expception of a few guns (Splitfire, sm750, sm1500) their prices are generally around the same.

When you've got rarer guns the obvious answer is ebay, but dont think so fast. I've seen 1000's go for as much as 50 on the forums. You'll get the occasional collector who will pay top dollar for a rare gun like that. On ebay though chances are it won't guy as high because the average ebay nerf buyer doesnt want to spend that much on a gun they've probably never heared of.
