Just curious if there were any Buckeyes here.

I really want to go to Notre Dame (ND fan, and I used to live in South Bend). But I'll probably end up at University of Alabama B'ham (UAB), Alabama University (UA) or Jacksonville State University (JSU, where most of my friends are). Depneds on whether I actually decide which feild I will go into.

Veggie, if you end up in Annapolis, head over to DCNO's. And, Navy wrestling kicks major ass. Their freshman dorms suck balls. Like, summer time, no AC, 5x5 room with 3 guys... It gets pretty hot there.

I'm a Buckeye fan due to relatives who went and are going there. Fuck Michigan, we kicked your asses.

I hate to do this, but look at the topic, College, the higher level of learning.

accepted, not excepted. That sounds like exempted...yummy, PHd with no school...

For those that couldn't figure it out, Annapolis=Navy.

I'll be back, I have a paper on quantum theory and entanglement due tomorow. As well as one on how Homer would like the movie The Odyssey versus the Effeminate poem.

Quantum physics kicks ass, and is slightly complicated...
But, speaking of school, in physics we were able to get a presentation done by UMD's physics department head. It was on dark matter and the fate of the universe and nutrinos and etc. It kicked ass.

Now the eternal question; To be an asshole, or not to be an asshole?

Shall I correct your grammar? I feel like I should since this is a college thread, as you have so astutely pointed out...

I guess I won't.

I'd hate to have you for a teacher. I read her post and I didn't even notice anything. Give the guy a break too, I can't spell either. Being able to spell has nothing to do with 'higher learning.' That's an easy mistake to make, I'm sure I've done it quite a few times. And just because you're some kind of braniac doesn't mean you have to point out someone's faults.

Oh... and seeing as this is about 'higher learning', usually there's this thing you're supposed to have learned hopefully before you get into college... courtiesy. Course you're to much of smart ass to believe in chivalry.

And physics could not possibly be interesting... I may be going into engineering, but I'm staying as far away from anything with physics as possible. It's all theory, and that doesn't work with me.

Actually theoretical physics can be pretty interesting. I'm no brainiac, just started college this year, but I read outside of school, and there is something great about thinking you might be one step closer to understanding... well, everything.

Everything starts as a theory.

(I'm not trying to change your oppinion, just stating mine. Don't want to be misunderstood.)

I noticed the mistake too and, as fun as it is to rail on him for being a grammar nut, you are quite incorrect. Being able to spel has quite a lot to do with "higher learning" because "higher learning" has quite a lot to do with being able to write clearly and correctly. Writing will be a huge part of your education regardless of whether you go into science or the humanities. Guess what a large part of engineering is - writing design reports. Accepted/excepted isn't something that spellchecks pick up, so it's one of the things that you need to know.

And since when is not correcting someone's mistake chivalry?

We've had this discussion before. If I recall correctly cx basically said that if they get their idea across and aren't annoying about it then stfu and leave them be. I just passed my first english class with the highest grade in the class, and I am far from an exceptional speller. This isn't elementary school, people.

I think I was just making a joke, not being a grammar nut... Getit, joke? Humor? Yay, I just finished two essays! Bed time, 3 hours of sleep, and turn in essays! High School shouldn't be like this.

I`m sorry, but being a Hokie myself I had to resurrect this thread. Congradulations JT. How do you like it so far? Where are you living? My Freshman year I was in East AJ. I moved to a townhouse in Pheasant Run for the remaining three years.

A few words of advice if I may:

In the fall get your athletic card and get your rightfully yours football tickets. You better damn well go to ever VT home game and maybe a couple of the away games. You will be shunned if you do not......

Stay away from Dietrick and Schultz. West End ( I called it "The Cock") is this shit. Hokie grill and Owens occasionally for a change.

Wear TWO coats while crossing the drillfield this time of year. (I`m sure you`ve figured this one out by now.)

If and when it snows, DO NOT ever think they will cancel class. It WILL NOT happen, no matter how much it snows/sleets/ices.

Don`t sell your Nerf stuff. I didn`t get into Nerf until I was a Junior at VT and my friends and I started having wars. This is also what spawned my homemades.

Quite a few of my friends are still up there in grad school. They were and I imagine still are big into nerf and war games. I`m sure they are not the only ones either.... I visit them occasionally and we stillbust out the Nerf.

Enjoy it up there. It will be the quickest four years of your life.....

Hahaha, you think you have bad winter weather in freaking Virginia?

Right now I'm at Brown in Providence, RI and we have about 2-3 feet of snow on the ground. Not to mention that in Rochester, NY (my hometown), colleges will still have classes if we have a 4 foot blizzard.

Hah! You think that's bad?!

I'm looking out my office window at the coeds walking to class and the light drizzle and 60F temperature has forced many of them to change from shorts to jeans! And the kids these days think *they* have it rough...

No doubt you fellows up North have it the worst. The drillfield at Tech acts like a natural wind tunnel so its windy as shit down the length of it at all times. And it always seems to be especially bad when its 20 degrees outside. Makes for a damn wind chill of about -100.......

Let's hear it for the shitty Wisconsin weather! My water pump froze up two weeks ago, and I needed to get it replaced thanks to the -20 below windchill. It's not so bad outside now, but winter can be a real bitch with the windchill.

You people in the warmer climates should be grateful you can actually go outside without having to wear at least 3 layers of clothing.

Fuse, when do you plan to go to Full Sail? My current plan is within the next 2 years.

Snow? Fucking snow? I live in fucking Canada. That should explain it all. Right now it's -22*C, windchill brings that to a -29*C. We have 47cm of snow on the ground, and it's piling up.

I don't know imperial measurements, but I assure you that my winter beats all of you in crappiness.

I wish we had "Cold days", I had to walk 1.3km to school in -34*C air while it was snowing... talk about assisted suicide.

We had a cold snap over here...man, it was freezing.

The mercury dipped down to 49 DEGREES F. here!

Boy, I had to break out the ol' parka.

It's better now. I'm back in shorts.

Well, while were on the subject of cold, here in Atlanta we just had a wall of rain hit a wall of cold air. Its miserable here. Only 25f, but everything is covered in ice and the rain has been frozen and going steady all day.

So of course my friend was hit by a guy who figured he could go around corners at 40 even when the roads were frozen, but hes fine.

Then my other friend slid into a telephone pole.

Atlanta drivers are shitty to begin with. Add ice and you have a margarita of doom.

Then my car froze to death. Which is weird, but for some reason the electronics all spazzed tonight in the cold and I got to walk 2 miles with nothing but a leather jacket.

*sings* It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas.
