I figure'd I'd post it over here too, because most NHQ users won't know who Dimebag Darrell is. But, I know a lot of the guys over here will.
It's a sad day for metal...

This is fucking terrible... Pantera rules. And Dimebag is dead.... wtf wtf wtf
I heard from my friend that the shooter may have been an on-duty cop. Why would he do that, though? Jeez... what an amazing guitarist. My friend saw him a few days ago on stage...
Another metal legend goes down.
RIP 8/20/66-12/8/04

EDIT:
It wasn't a police officer. Check out the Wikipedia entry for both Dimebag and the shooter, Nathan Gale.
Cemetary Gates action happening here.

What the fuck is wrong with this damn race? Who the hell comes into a concert with a damn loaded gun and just shoots the band? The man had no fucking enemies, he was the nicest guy... what the fuck?
I just can't understand it. Don't get me wrong, Pantera was never my favorite band, but I liked them... Pantera was probably the 2nd or third biggest name in metal in the country (Metallica being first, and Pantera and Slayer fighting for the close second spot there)... I mean, this is one of the biggest american metal bands out there.... Granted, Dimebag was playing in Damageplan, but he was still a huge influence on the entire metal community.
I just don't fucking get it. Like I said, I was never the biggest pantera fan (I have like about 6 or 7 of their cds...w hich is almost all, but they weren't my favorite) but when I heard this on the radio today I got choked up... I did. I just don't fucking get what is wrong with some people. This has got to be one of the most depressing days in metal... This has never really happened to the metal community. Sure, some of the crazy scandinavian black metal fucks have killed eachother, but a fan has never shot a huge metal icon... I mean... jesus.
Here's another interesting fact for all of you... John Lennon was shot on December 8th, 1980... for those of you who are slow, Dimebag was shot yesterday... December 8th, 2004.
Man, and to think Dime's brother (Vinnie Paul) was sitting behind the drumset watching him get shot down... it's just... fucked.
I don't even know what to say.

No matter what gun control is imposed, it is still not going to stop psychos from shooting people. The best way to prevent something like this from happening is to impose better security.Holy crap. This kind of thing should be illegal (wait it is illegal). Maybe what I ment was it should be indirectly illigal. Why the fuck are guns legal. I mean guns are cool and all but they should only be used for target practice, cops and hunting. I don't want the world leaders to get crazy go nuts and make all types of guns illegal like airsoft, paintball and nerf but just the fire-arms. I feel sorry for Dimebag, and his brother, the band, the fans, the metal listeners, and anybody who sympithises with them.
That's really sad to hear about this happening. Pantera was a great band, and a great counter to the trendy manufactured pop bullshit they usually play on the radio. Dimebag Darrell will be missed. May he rest in peace.

Hey man, i agree that guns are pretty vicious and evil sometimes, this isn't how guns should be used. Ever. However, guns are legal because...Why the fuck are guns legal.

He was awesome... but can we avoid debating who was best, like the Hendix thread? Lets just say he was one of the greatest of the greats, haha. This so sad...He was like, the awesomest lyric/guitar player.....ever...

He wasn't the best because there is no best, but he was a guitar hero in the sense that he created a style... he had his very own distinct style that no one else could reproduce. He was one of the only professional guitar players to use solid state amplification, and he made the Whammi pedal popular.
More than that, he was a good guy. He was cool, and everyone loved him.
He will be missed.
