Nice first post, the spring and the 3 pronged thing were most likely the air restrictor, you should take them out, you'll get more range. I don't have much experience with CPVC but it has been known to be very tight on some types of 1/2 inch FBR and not as tight on some others.

9/16 inch brass tubing can be purchased at most hobby shop with model trains or airplanes, you should also get some 17/32 inch brass so you can make it telescoping.PETG can ONLY be purchased online to my knowlege, IronRhino may still have some or you can order it at www.mcmaster.com.

Get rid of the spring and the three prong plastic.

You can sand the inside of the cpvc with a dremal, or put the original barrel back in does so so if you remove the restrictors.

And do a search for brass I posted a topic awhile back to buy it without paying shipping; I believe it is in general somewhere.

Sheesh, he had a good post. Don't kill him. I actually get my brass from Ace Hardware...so I think that's a hardware store. The three pronged thing is an air restrictor, as is the little spring. Get rid of them. We have a NF mod here on nerfhaven, just look under the "mods" section up top.

If you want to use CPVC, the fit is smaller than brass, but people still use it. If you have a dremel, dremel the inside. Otherwise, you need to stretch your foam backer rod with a hair dryer and such, to make them straightened, and thinned out. I believe we have some some threads about this. Try searching around the forum.

Good luck.

If you want to stay stock for now, and switch later, a crayola marker tube is a good barrel. Pull the back cap out, pull out the insides, and cut the front out. Then hot glue and tape the barrel on.

Your stefans will fit if you make them like this:

1) Cutt sections of foam into however long 5 of your darts would be. I make mine 1.5" long so that means I cutt my foam into 7.5" sections.

2) Take a section of foam, and hold one end tightly in your left hand. Now hold the other end tightly in your right. Now stretch the foam a bit. It should grow about 1/4" longer than it normally was. This makes the foam thinner and helps straiten it.

3) Put that peace aside and move onto another section, repeat step 2.

4) Go back to all your other sections and go over them again, friction heating it through your hand and stretching it very slightly again.

5) Now go back and cutt teh larger sections into individual darts.

That should make your stefans fit better in the PVC.

As for the mod itself, yes leave that spring out and break that peg off from the three little prongs it's on. Make sure you put that little disc you broke the peg off of back on the end of the plunger though.

However, the brand names of the brass are different for each hardware store, I'd go with the hardware store that carries K&S brass, it just works well and is consistantly sized in my experiance.

Try not to bring up dead topics however, this one is over 2 weeks old.
