For those of you who like to spray paint your guns black with Krylon Fusion, do you keep spraying the gun until it turns a very dark shade of black or do you spray it once and it will become a dark shade? Sorry for the run on sentence.

The way I paint my guns is I go to the dollar store, buy a can of 99 cent primer and a 99 cent can of flat black. Same results, cheaper price. But besides that, it should take at least 3 coats to get a desired quality of paint. Follow the directions on the can, and spray once and let it dry, then repeat.

Actually Dan, You would get different results that way. Useing primer first makes is flat and sometimes have a different texture. Useing strait on fusion paint will make a more smooth plastic feel.

To pain it properly, lay one half of the shell out on a big peace of newspaper or something. Then start spraying while aiming OFF of then shell then move from one side to the other ending OFF of the shell on th eother side. This makes your sprays even. Do that untill the shell is covered once, then go back and add another layer or two untill it looks how you want.

I thought there was a sand blasting method of powder coating that gave the same effects without the temperatures. Anyway, i'm liking the sound of just using primer and el cheapo cans. I could score myself an air brush and compressor if i wanted [through dad] but all you guys have to do is talk to some of the teachers at school.
