I put 6" brass barrels on my sf, and put a stefan with a 3/0 fishing weight in it, and it only got about 25-30 feet. I tried a bb weighted stefan and it was about the same. I pump it around 10-12 times. i cant see any visual problems with it. Whats's wrong?

So I take it there are no leaks present? Also, you may have a broken check valve in the pump. Does it get hard to pump it after the fourth or so pump? You should also probably check the air output by putting your hand in front of the primed, UNLOADED, pistol's barrels and squeeze the trigger. If you don't feel very high of a pressure, you may have something that is limiting the amount of air hitting the barrels, hence no range.

No, the pumps fine. i dont feel any problems with it.

Put your mouth around the end of a barrel and blow. Does any air leak out? If so, plug the leaks.

It could also be your dart-to-barrel fit, too loose or too tight or not enough of each.

nope, i didnt hear any leaks. the darts dont seem overtight or anything. i made sure that the darts were down as far as they could go.

This would not decrease that much range but, did you take out the “X” air restrictors at the end of the barrel? Other that that I don’t see why you are not getting a good range. No leaks, good seal, good dart to barrel fit. Anything else that is wrong with it….the pump possibly?

Steps to help to fix those air guns.

Step 1. Pump it under some water.
Step 1b. If it bubbles, plug the hole.
Step 2. Blow down the barrel, and check loose seals.
Step 2b. Seal the leak.
Step 3. Check the pump, Is the check valve busted?
Step 3b. That sucks, use the gun for parts or replace the pump.
Step 4. Pull the trigger, and blow down the barrel, let go off the trigger, then pull it.
Step 4b. If it dosn't blow a little air out, check the tank release part.

Hmm, those are interesting tips NSF, thanks alot.

Yup, i took out all the air restrictors.

Spray some WD40 or silicon spay into the valve. Also, it might not be the check valve in the pump, but maybe the ones that the trigger pulls to make it shoot. It could be that there is a lot of pressure in the tank and the air pushes the seal back and some gets out. To fix this, put some rubber bands around those rear valves so it makes the seal tighter.

Just thought of something else. With the SF if you dont pull the trigger fast enough the air leaks our slowley. Mabey your squeezing and not snapping it more.
