I was curious if anyone could enlighten me how nerf guns are designed and by whom. I remember hearing a company by the name of johnson sold their designs to nerf. I know most of the designs are in some way related,but there are a few original ones.

If Im not mistaken many modern nerf guns, the pump variety, are dreived from the old Larami SuperMaxxx guns. Nerf bough Larami's dartgun line, leaving them with SuperSoakers I think, and lowerd the power, changed the cases, and rereleased many old Larami designs. Since then they have expanded the pump-gun line by quite a bit with new designs.

Yeah, its been a good while since they purchased Larami. Dont remember exactly when, but it was back when I still nerfed.

A lot of the designs were courtesy of Lonnie Johnson, the inventor of the super soaker. His design firm did the original Larami guns, the super maxx line, and the airjet line. Hasbro design teams have done most of the rest in-house. Because the Johnson designs were smack in the middle of nerf history, there was a period where Hasbro didn't do any design work. They apparently re-built that team a couple years ago.

Ya I remembered the johnson corporation name, but didn't no all that. Thank you greatly cxwq. So if the johnson team did the wildfire, then essentially all nerf has done is modular devations basicially. RF20 and powerclip are very similiar to wilfire in design, and so are just about bevery other nerf desin they've some out with. link to all his patents:his patents He's patented an air powered rocket toy (n-Strike prob) ,a voice activated toy gun, 2 rapid fire toy guns and much more.

This guy worked on Weapons of Mass Destruction and ended up inventing the Super Soaker/Nerf Line.

Now that's strange and cool at the same time.
