I plan on nested brass modding my at2k, but how long should I make the 17/32" brass.

Nesting will not help your at2k.Go with a solid 9/16" of 6 inches.

I nest mine, I have 1 inch of 17/32 and 6 inches of 9/16. I'm getting 100+ feet singled.

Yes, but it'd be really heavy. I wouldn't be surprised if the turret broke with the extra weight.

Play it safe and just have 6 inches of plain 9/16" brass

THEngineer, what are you talking about? It doesnt add much extra weight at all, and it could easily take it.

Point is, nesting a 2k makes no difference at all. Your better off not even bothering.

I coppered and mult-barelled my 2k, so brass wouldn't be too heavy for it

If anything nesting would reduce performance. It's only needed to keep the dart in the barrel longer with guns that have slow air release. IT would requite more air to push the dart out of the nested portion, and that air would seap around the dart a bit. If you just had the normal barrel size, the dart would easily come out.

Ompa, your 7 inch nested barrel is the normal at2k barrel size. 6-8 inches.

Well, it's singled. and it's 6 inches long as the 17/32 ends up completely nested. Don't ask me HOW it works, it just does. Range testing and my AT2k gets 100-120' flat consistantly off of 4 pumps.

Unfortunately yes... I really have NO Idea how it's shooting that far- I just did the same mod to my other AT2k, but I haven't tested the performance. Maybe it's just some wierd glitch with my other AT2k. Trust me, I didn't believe it either, at least until I measured it. I'll get pics up and pics of me TAKING the ranges as soon as my mom lets me out of the house, or I can sneak it in. Most likely Thursday, but I should be able to get pics of the mod itself (very hot-gluey I know) in a few days. Or maybe it was the fact that I was using 1.5 inch darts with 1/4 steel shot weights- Cranky, I really don't know. And 120 is the high side- the range I stated was 100-120, usually shoots about 105-110, but it HAS shot 120. I have yet to test it with 2.5inch darts, but I will do that soon as well.

I fully understand your skepticism Cranky, so please be patient and I'll do my best to get pictures up for you. Basically my belief is that the nested barrel basically means that more air is used to push the dart out of the barrel- if I use just 9/16, you need a longer barrel to make use of the air/air pressure that the gun has. However, I have NO idea why it would affect range. Maybe it's the fact that I glued the coupler right on to the chamber itself- so that the air goes DIRECTLY into the back of the dart instead of going through about an inch of pvc before it reaches it. All it could be is efficient air delivery for all I know.

I really do wish that I could give a better explanation to you all- but all I can do is to show you pictures and ranges and let you judge for yourself.

120 feet off of that 2k really isnt a surprise, though guns always do better in the range test than in the actual war. Thats a fact. I would trsut that 2k shooting about 80 in a war, with people running around, more wind, more/less angle depending on the terrian...Thats why range testing means nothing. Its how you can pull it off.

Agreed. Even if my gun pulls 100-120', I wouldn't take shots over 80'- the accuracy just goes down the shitter at that kind of range. Maybe with a titan no, but with most guns yes. THIRST is right, it's how you use the gun in the war.

YES I KNOW IT'S HOT GLUE! I didn't have any epoxy at the moment, and I'm too lazy to tear the hot glue off... Yes, it's ugly.
