Does anyone know how to open up the maximizer, without snapping the casing in half? I'm having trouble figuring it out, since it doesn't have any screws.

Unless you broke something, you shouldn't need to. Luckily, the screws (there are 8 perhaps) are all very solid and easy to unscrew. You just need to FIND them. The majority are hidden under the purple crap on the gun, the ring around the front barrel, and the wedge on the back of the gun. You can just pop the ring off with a flathead screwdriver, and then any other interruptions can be handled with a dremel. Cut along the natural split of the casing, and then pull off the purple pieces that cover up screws. Good luck, but I will re-state the fact that opening it does you no good if it is a working gun. You can't replace the expansion (Ultimator style) spring, and any barrel mods you want to do have to take place on the external end of the stock barrel.

That's the main reason I want to open up the gun, but why can't you replace the spring in it? Is the catch mechanism not strong enough to hold a bulkier spring?

Maximizer internal pic,a piece on the handle guide will eventually crack off and make it useless- like this one (gray/white on black piece below and vertical to the body)
If you add a bigger spring it will just happen faster and it doesn't make that much of an improvement.

Yeah, sucks when the Maximizer breaks like that. You can make it pull from the rear if you attach something to the end of the cocking rod. Anyways, would you replace the spring on a Max Shot? Then don't replace the spring on the Maximizer. Leave the beast closed, unless you intend to lay steel strips across the cocking mechanisms for re-inforcement. Good luck...!

the cocking handle breaking is a new one for me, i have only heard of the gun cracking where the purple muzzle meets the black segment. mine completely broke off, but is still held together by the spring itself. this problem however is completely a design flaw rather then an effect of modding. the gun will eventually just shoot itself in half.

but damn!! that baby is a frickin good rifle. when i come back home for thanksgiving or christmas, reparing and adding a stock is goin to be my first priority.
