Hello,

I am looking to buy Nerf Rival guns and ammo for a group of around 20 kids. I am brand new and very inexperienced with Nerf in general so i am just looking for some tips and advice on what would be a cost effective way to equip an army of 20 kids for a nerf war. Anyone out there have any advice? Thanks!

Outofdarts on reddit/YouTube/the store is very good at rival gear and would probably have advice available. There are a few knockoff brands of rival HIRs, but none are especially cheap and I hear mixed reviews about the compatibility of some of the cheaper online options in Rival-brand springers.

That said, I think the Adventure Force/Dart Zone HIR-equivalents at Walmart/Target work well enough and are less expensive.

As for blasters, the Kronos is solid, and the Adventure force offerings are also decent (titanium, quantum, and accelerator) and less expensive. All Rival gear will cost more than dart-flinging gear; ATM you can get a 2-pack of excellent six shooters from Zuru or Dart Zone for $13, while a single Kronos varies from $14-20.

Also, what age ranges? Before you buy in bulk, check that one or two of them can prime the blaster you pick. Kronos’ can be hard to prime for kids, and though there exist pullback mods, I don’t know if you’re into doing that for 20 blasters.

These are jr high and highschool kids that will be using them. Thanks for the advice. I was looking at the artemis but dont know how hard it is to prime those either.

High schoolers shouldn't have trouble with any of the offerings. Jr. highers would probably be able to use them, but might need instruction in proper full operation (not short-cycling, loading procedure, etc.). Artemis is a solid choice and functionally similar to the titanium.

+1 on the Kronos and Artemis. These are nice in that users don't need to lug around extra mags. Some big pockets or a simple belt pouch/bag should suffice (except for ball spammers who like to slamfire the Artemis...)

+1 for the Kronos, for it's cost it's probably my favorite from the Rival Series.

so you guys recommend the kronos and artemis over the helios, apollo, or atlas? any reason why?

thanks

Apollo is an ergonomic nightmare, atlas is a weird shotgun.  Helios is ok though. The Kronos is basically an inexpensive and self-contained (no mags) apollo/helios.

I personally have had really good experiences with the Kronos as well, shoots far and pretty hard for the price.

The nerf Kronos is just a great deal.  It's not exceptionally good, but it's both much cheaper and much smaller than all the other rival blasters.  Dart zone rival blasters are OK, but not really superior to the nerf rival blasters (unlike their dart blasters, which are markedly better than Nerf's).  The titanium and powerball use a little hopper, which works most of the time but fails to feed just often enough to be frustrating.  You can just use a rival magazine which should feed perfectly, but of course that's one more thing to buy and distribute.   Still probably works out cheaper than an artemis, which is the closest nerf equivalent (pump action), but the artemis holds more ammo and the magazines are a non-removable part of the blaster, which simplifies things.

If you're trying to supply for a big group I would also avoid battery powered blasters like the plague.  Blasters eat batteries pretty fast, and it will create a logistical nightmare even if you have enough spare charged batteries.  Not to mention the added cost.

And yes, the adventure force / dart zone rival balls are the best option.  They are something like twelve cents each, which is very close in price to the 3rd party online knockoffs, but the quality is just as good as genuine Nerf rival balls.  Exclusively at walmart unfortunately.

The Nerf Kronos or the new Nerf Rival Knock Out.

then grab some adventure force rival style rounds from amazon or Walmart.

then just grab a Dart zone Liberator for yourself.
