I've been on a few other forums recently [for varying reasons] and i noticed a handy little phpBB menu item... the [ FLASH ] command.
Although there would be obvious misuses, in flame wars and such, its very handy for someone like myself who posts their concepts in a .swf format. My up-coming M4A1 Carbine nerf concept is a mass of other ideas all rolled into the one gun.
Like my shotgun concept [except executed better, much better] it will be presented with a bit of a synopsis, but it would be a lot better if the design would load by itself, on the thread, without the user having to click on an external link.
I was just wondering, [more wondering than requesting] that it be debated. I fully understand the reasons this should not be instated. Maybe if access to a command was granted to certain members this would be under better control, but this seems complex.
Hopefully you can take this into consideration.

I'm not sure on how loading pictures from external sites works bandwith wise. But, wouldn't that eat bandwidth like a mofo.

Loading content hosted on other sites uses zero bandwidth that I pay for. I don't get why people on some sites cry bandwidth when people use big images in their sig or whatever - the poster is the one supplying that bandwidth.
I won't do it because of the potential for exploits.

Thanks for clearing that up, however it would also cause the site to take longer to load.

It sometimes causes that particular image to take longer to load. Most broswers these days do a good job of multi-threading and will happily load up content as it arrives so you see the actual forum content as soon as my server delivers it.Thanks for clearing that up, however it would also cause the site to take longer to load.
