I want to bring attention to what could potentially be one of the most powerful air blasters ever made that nobody is talking about, that blaster is the Slimeball Gobzooka. I do not own one of these yet but they are $20 at Target so prepare your wallets. BuffdaddyNerf has taken some pictures showing how to convert this monstrosity to fire darts

This behemoth can fire nearly 400 FPS without a plugged pump and with a 12 inch CPVC barrel. This thing rivals a Hydro Cannon in terms of sheer power, I legitimately have no idea what to say and I'm excited to see what the modding community does with this thing

Wow...
I have some questions. What kind of pressures can this thing take, how durable is it, how comfortable is the shell and when will we be seeing it for sale online or in stores worldwide?
I really want to get my hands on one as i kind of have a huge obsession with stupidly impractically powerful blasters that lead people to shit themselves as soon as they lay eyes on them.

Wow, thanks for the heads up on this Aydensnake! Time to stock up before they get pulled or neutered. That has some amazing potential. It'd be fun to put an aggressively sized absolver on this thing or rebarrel it for missiles - or just coupler the thing so either can be thrown on there. This might just become my new favorite integration fodder.

Penguin, my local target shows them as in stock and on the shelf in utah, USA so hopefully Australia follows quickly.

I doubt they would pull or neuter these things considering that they fire 25 feet with the stock ammunition and the fact that it needs to be modded to be usable for nerf. If it did this stock then it would need to be pulled

We won't have answers to these questions for a while, because they are brand new.

Had a guy show up at apoc with one of these, shooting mega slugs and damn that thing is killer, I'd love to just load alot of those mega slugs in a barrel and shotgun some poor sod with them, the look would be all the more worth it. I bet the Ausies are laughing at most of our responses to 400 FPS. Now to find green paper stuff to snag one or 2.

Alright, I have my Gobzooka. Initial observations:

1. The blaster is actually not that large, it's about the same size as a 4B.

2. The handle is incredibly tiny. I think it was designed for a three finger grip for small kids, so it's realistically a two finger grip for adults. One for the handle, one for the trigger, two underneath cupping it. In spite of that, it's not actually that uncomfortable. I will probably still replace it, but I'm going to give it a chance first. The pump foregrip is actually oversized, so it won't need a foregrip change.

3. The performance with the stock ammo is abysmal. Even with the slimeballs nested fully in it doesn't always want to pump up, and on the shots I managed to get the balls went about twenty feet angled. I know nobody is really getting this to shoot slimeballs but I wanted to mention it.

4. It looks like with very minor filework a maverick cylinder would fit into the 'barrel' as an absolver. Some hot glue around the edges and you have a simple shotgun mod. I might do this, or barrel it for rival. I'm thinking on it while the gasket seal sets on the safety valve (not the overpressure valve, there's a hole in the front that is supposed to seal with a peg when a slimeball is loaded.)

5. The little safety peg/ring assembly is a pain in the butt to get out, took me about 45 minutes with two pairs of needlenose pliers. I think if I do another one it will go faster but it's still annoying.

6. The slimeballs are fun, they're just a little sticky but seem durable. They're hollow and squishy, and when you squeeze them they bubble out. I'll keep an eye on them and see if they get covered in dust and lint.

7. The blaster isn't too heavy, since it's mostly empty space, even more so than most blasters. It's much lighter than, for example, a titan.

edit, further observations:

8. The shell comes off really easily, which is great for painting.

9. Everything else is solvent welded. EVERYTHING. You're not getting into the guts of this blaster without a real fight, so be careful what you do to it because fixing anything internal is going to be incredibly trying and tedious.

The modifications are complete and it shoots up to four rival balls quite well. Ended up using a Firefly plunger tube from a junked firefly as a barrel. I'll post a pic in the mods picture thread.

If you just slap a hopper clip and barrel onto it, couldn't it be a viable alternative to a 4B? Or is that just too uncreative.

For a blaster that is capable of firing 400 FPS from a single barrel (a hopper is a single barrel), this would be banned unless you increase the darts loaded per shot. Not really a viable alternative.
