This is like my second post so bear with me.
I'm looking to get a chest rig but I don't like the one that it seems like everybody uses because it has no molle for modularity. I don't really want to spend more than $40.

I think the problem you'll run into is that most vests in that range either do not include pouches, or include pouches you won't use. For example, this has pouches and is under $40, but you really need AK pouches (for stock-dart mags) not the oddball-variety that comes with. I went with this for $15, but then you need to buy pouches separately. I picked it because I've got some ideas and a belt seemed easier to execute with than a vest - FYI this isn't setup well for a dropleg either, but it was the cheapest belt & suspenders I could find. Others required you to buy them separate, and would've ended up closer to your $40 mark without anything.

 

Then there's this, which we talked about in the other thread, but at $50 it is over budget and sans-pouch.

 

I say I think at the top because there are a ton of rigs out there. They're mostly copies of each other, and they're mostly geared at airsoft/paintball, but spend some time sorting through and you might find your ideal $40 rig.

 

Also FYI, I didn't like the way 18's sat on a chest rig. A molle chest rig would be largely a waste if your goal is to set it up similar to the usual rig everybody recommends and then run them - the 18's will sit all the way up and take up all your slots (barring offsetting the mags; e.g. putting them on a belt).

I was going to put the mags on my hip with a holster of some kind and put a blaster or two on my chest.
