[Bubba Longshot]

Hello all, I recently bought a stage 2 Longshot kit form OMW, and it includes a polycarbonate plunger head, and rod. With a polycarbonate head and stock plunger tube, will I still need to pad the plunger head?
I'm assuming this is a yes, so would you recommend a neoprene (rubber) washer, or 1/16 craft foam. Also, the washer doesn't cover the entire plunger head (it leaves like 1.25mm of space) so would the padding still be effective? I'm wondering since the ARs have been removed, and the only impact that the plunger head and the plunger cup will have is on the outer rim. This isn't a problem with the craft foam though...
I'm basically wondering if I need to pad, and if so, with what (from what I've read, the rubber washer will last much longer, but the foam will be a better cushioning material). If it's helpful, I'll be running a 6.5kg spring load.

If it's a stock plunger tube, then yes. Breaking the front of the plunger tube is the concern so yes, make sure there is padding. 1.25mm of space around the plunger is fine. That doesn't matter. It's all about what comes into contact with the front of the plunger tube first. As long as the craft foam, rubber, or whatever you decide to use hits the front of the plunger tube, and not your polycarb plunger head, then its fine.

I would advise against craft foam. It'll lose shape fairly quickly

You have to use rubber. There are almost no foams that will survive repeated compression.

Good news guys! I installed the OMW stage 2 kit today, and also padded the plunger with a rubber washer. The rubber is what is hitting the front plunger tube, so I'm confident that the padding is doing good.

Do you know what size the rubber washer is that you used?

I would recommend going into a hardware store with the plunger head and looking for one that fits on the plunger head and is smaller than the o ring.

I'm not sure on the exact numerical code, but it has a diameter of 3 cm.
