Title says it all, my cut down elite steffans are comming out of the barrel so fast you can't initially see them but they're also losing more than half their range to the gigantic spiraling trajectories they tend to take before straightening out, funnily enough streamline steffans are more consistent on account of the lower muzzle velocity.

Make your own slugs. They work really well with high power velocity blasters. There is a great dart smithing guide right here on Nerfhaven. It's in the darts/barrel section, and is pinned.

Would Artifact stefans work? I need something safe to shoot at people but a future build will require incredibly consistent dart lengths which kinda rules out slugs.

Not sure how slugs are deemed inconsistent due to their lengths. Try artifact darts but I think they are lighter than traditional homemade ammo.

 

What are you firing this out of? If its shooting anything over 200 fps, there's nothing stock about it. You'd be pressed for luck to find any type of dart shot at that speed to be "safe" for anyone.

Longshot with an artifact kit (with near perfect seals) and a 16kg spring. Slugs being inconsistent as in homemade darts would likely not all be the exact same length, which is an issue for a revolver build I have planned for later.

OK.  So if you want stock darts to be accurate at 200 fps, you need to use the fat headed sort, like taggers, whistlers, the big suction cups.  The head fits in ~5/8" ID barrels rather than the 50 cal for streamlines.

If you want 50 cal china darts to be accurate at 200 fps, you need to use cut-down Men-gun darts or a similar design (not sure men-gun still exists, waffle heads do still exist tho).  Artifact darts are good to ~150 fps, which is much better than any Nerf-made 50 cal dart, but at 200 you will not likely be satisfied.  They are also heavier than most other darts at 1.2g each.  IF you are willing to scale back power a bit artifact darts are clearly the best choice, but most people either use hoppers and/or shoot harder than 150 fps which is why not everyone is using artifacts.

If you want to do homemade darts I have instructions for a few types https://sites.google...mlessarms/darts that do well at 200 fps, but making darts is awful and I don't recommend it.  I sell silicone dome darts but they are as expensive as Nerf brand stock darts (0.25 ea), and the length ranges from 34.5mm to 36mm (Artifact darts are all almost exactly 36mm).

Solution to the inconsistencies of homemade darts: make a dart cutter out of 1/2 PVC, 19/32" brass, or 1/2" copper. Hell, even 3d print one. Make Slugs or SCSs. Take some measurements and use a dremel cutting wheel to cut the slots, then use a hobby knife to cut the foam. They're more consistent (range wise) and straighter-flying than any aftermarket darts. 

Chinadarts, especially the shorter ones, can have inconsistencies in length (though this usually has to do with the dart head detaching partially from the foam body). This is a huge problem with the artifact soft darts and their respective clones. I also find that the darts get destroyed very easily with regular wear and shit glue. 

 

I also have an Artifact LS, and I have to re-cut short Chinadarts to fit into the magazines. It's annoying. 

These problems happen with the harder variants too, just not to the same degree.
