Hey everyone, I broke down and bought an orange elite stryfe, modulus grip blaster and an 18 round mag/elite darts from my local toys r us on a 25% off nerf sale that ends in a couple of days.

Anyways, I'm not a fan of elite darts...
In my springers I really like "vinyl tip nipple" darts, but wondering how/if flywheels (mainly stryfe) accept the hard tip nipple darts. So far I've only used my elites and accustrike darts through my new stryfe. I'm kind of worried the hard tips will slip in the flywheels and destroy my favorite darts and/or my new stryfe.

So what is the general consensus as "the best" type of darts for flywheels (mainly stryfe)?
"Full vinyl jackets"/hard tip elites?
Vinyl tip nipple/hard round tip darts?
Koosh?
"Waffle" darts?

I'm looking to buy about 200 white cheap darts just for my stryfe and using my vinyl nipple tip darts mostly in my spring powered blasters.

So, "best" darts for a stryfe???

Although I have no first-hand experience, koosh darts are arguably the most popular dart for flywheel blasters. They are relatively cheap, and work well in the flywheels. Most youtubers use them (coop, lord drac, etc) so they should be good. If for some reason you can't buy them, then I'd recommend waffle tip darts (ekind, mengun, little valentine) as they are very accurate. The youtuber Coop772 made a video of him firing them at cups with various blasters (stryfe included), and they seemed to preform very well.

Gen 3 Koosh darts work pretty well in Stryfes (that's what I use). I don't know if they're better than the waffle darts, though.

Koosh gen 4 (gen 3 with no glue spillages) are probably your best option as they have very high fps in flywheel blasters and have great accuracy with stock/low tier flywheel mods. They will also work in brass for springers as an added bonus due to the tip glueing fix if thats something that you might want to use them for. Only problem is that they tend to do a sort of swirl in the air out of very high power flywheel blasters due to their relatively low weight.
The waffle darts i have tried don't have very consistant gluing so there tips fly off very often. The ekind darts also dont work in brassed springers.
If you want value for money then go and pick up some FVJ's, they are normally about 4AUD for 100 and they fly very straight out of blasters 170 fps and below. One thing you might need to watch out for with fvjs is that some are made a tiny bit to short to be used reliably in a stryfe. They can also wreck your flywheels over a long period of time if you are using high rpm/torque motors and a high crush setup, although this can probably be avoided by getting some aluminium flywheels.
As for VTN or ACC style darts, they often don't work in flywheelers that arent the hyperfire because of their tip profile being at too steep of an angle from where the foam starts to the point of the tip, therefore not giving enough surface for the flywheels ro grab onto. But as you said they are the best option for cheap darts in springers and brass that you can get.

Yeah, I'm def worried about destroying my stryfe and or my favorite vinyl nipple darts due to possible slipping on the solid tip.

So I guess I'm super on the fence between koosh and waffle tip.
Just don't recall ever seeing white koosh whoch would be nice.

Anyone else have opinions on koosh vs waffle vs fvj/vtn or some other darts for mildly modded stryfe?

A lot of Nerf Wars don't allow for the use of FVJs. With that said, I use FVJs for general plinking and screwing around at home purposes, That means that my actual "war" practical darts still remain relatively fresh for use. Haven't had any issues using FVJs in either my upgraded flywheels or upgraded springers. 

 

Koosh will fly farther than the Waffle darts but the waffle darts are a tad more accurate. If you're playing in more open fields with relatively little cover, I'd go with Koosh for the range advantage. If you're playing in an area with lots of cover and therefore more instance of close-up firing, go with the waffle darts. Or you could go with both like I do and change them out for the situation.

I don't do any "sanctioned" events or anything, and if ever I do, I have a bunch of non hard plastic tipped darts. Just plinking at home and messing around with a few old friends.

For all my "springers" I've found that vtn hard plastic rounded nipple tip darts seem to be the best out of my 3 most important criteria, velocity, distance and accuracy. I don't have a chronograph nor do I want to really invest in one and some of every dart available to test them. Just with plinking at home I've felt the vtn darts to be better than the others I've tried (elite, accustrike, fvj) out of spring blasters, but not sure if there is a "best" dart for a flywheel stryfe without having to buy them all to try, which I guess wouldnt be a bad thing.

It's only with 3rd party flywheel cages that have a high crush or 3rd party highly serrated flywheels is where FVJs aren't quite the best choices. For stock or normal crush/flywheel styles, FVJ is fine.

I was highly considering some canted metal flywheel cages/wheels, so now I'm even more stuck on the fence between koosh and waffle tip...

Which would you suggest if using artifact canted flywheel cage and concave flywheels?

Both if possible. But as noted in your other thread, i really wouldn't recommend going the Artifact cage route as long you're using stock motors.

Anyone happen to ever see any glow in the dark koosh darts?
I'm really wanting glow darts for my firefly clip. Seen glow waffle tips plenty of times but can't seem to find glow koosh not a deal breaker for koosh, but would be nice

Haven't seen any 3rd party glow-in-the-dark darts in the wild. Also, I don't think I've ever seen Koosh darts in packs of 100. I usually see and order them in packs of 200:

I guess I can deal with slightly lower velocity and range if the accuracy/consistency is better.

I know I'm a little late, but I personally use waffle in my modded stryfe. They are very cheap, and the most consistent dart out there... Ekind is the best company I've seen, and they are incredibly helpful with everything you need. I run glow in the dark waffles, and they glow very well with some 'charging'. The head also is easier on the stryfe IMO.

Is ekind the generaly aggreed upon "best" waffle tip style dart, or just the best for the dollar?

I've seen quite a few, from ekind, raytheon, little valentine, mengun, 6 miles, knex... there's probably more as well.

Which would you all suggest? As of now I'm leaning towards ekind since I see them mentioned probably the most and I like that they offer glow waffles, but open for suggestions on "better" waffle darts if any

Well I received and testedd the ekind glow waffles I ordered from amazon, and sadly they are not as accurate or consistent as the nerf accustrike darts I love. Everyone seemed to say (and coops video dart comparison showed) the ekind waffle to be better than nerf accustrike, but I just don't see it

Are your blasters still stock? IIRC, waffles are heavier than most dart types and might show worse performance stock.

Otherwise, they're the most accurate for the dollar. I've had poor experiences with them as well but mine weren't accuracy related. I hear that I may have gotten a bad batch or brand or color or something.

Yeah, the different colors are somehow different tolerances and sizes. IDK how or why, but it does seem consistent (one color always being one fit, another another). There was a post for one kind of darts reviewing the difference in FPS for different colors from one company, I don't remember who by or what dart they were looking at though.
