I was working on a mod, and I accidentally tore out three of the threaded parts that the screws actually thread into. Is there a good, strong way to reconnect this to the shell, or am I screwed? ;)

I have all of the missing pieces, hanging onto their screws. Before somebody suggests that I just ignore them, these are three of the four screws holding the stock and rear of my Xbow together.

Should I just pack the shell full of epoxy putty once I have my internals figured out?

Superglue is what I use for non heavily needed posts, but epoxy putty cocooned around the post is stronger.

Couldn't you fill the post with something and then drill the screw in.

Usually the best thing to do is fill it with putty, and a small layer around it, after it cures, drill a pilot hole into it, and screw it together. You could also solvent weld the plastic together, if you have the tools, work area, and patience.

I think your biggest challenge will be maintaining alignment and depth when you reattach them. I'd suggest cleaning up the break with sand paper and then mating and screwing them back onto the mating half of the shell. You can then stick a glob of epoxy putty onto the broken nub of the post and mate the shells back together while it cures. Screwing the broken post on to the receiving post will help keep it aligned while it cures as well as making sure it cures at the correct height.

And make sure the break lines are aligned perfectly. But if the port is split in two, like a hotdog in a microwave, then you cant really do anything. (By this I mean if the port itself split in half)

Can I get a picture of the problem, I have delt with messed up screw ports befor, the situation really depends on if the screws can go into the port, if the port is bent, or if the port is cracked.

Probably fill with epoxy putty and drill like Vaan said.

Honestly, I don't think that it will break the whole structural integrity of the blaster. If the gun is still secure, and the shell is sturdy, 3 screw ports isn't that bad. I lost 2 ports doing a mod for a friend, but the blaster was still strong and I didn't worry about it breaking.
However, if you do want to address the issue, you can fill the port with epoxy putty and drill a hole once it's dry.
If the the port can not be saved, then neither LIGHTLY hot glue the shell together. That way you can still access it by prying off the hot glue. If aesthetics are not an issue, a piece of duct or electrical tape will do the trick.
Good luck

That's a good thought. If you grease the mating non broken screw port, it'll press into the uncured e putty when you put the two shell halves together. You might also be able to drive a greased screw into the uncured putty as well and avoid drilling the screw hole later. You might want to test that on a crappy blaster first though.

These are two of the posts that got torn off.

They came from the base of the stock, near where the catch is.

vaan, I don't have the materials or tools. The only thing you listed that I have is patience; I'm a Nasus one-trick in League of Legends.

shmmee, that sounds like what I'm going to do.

Silly, it's a simple tear, from trying to screw them down over a 1-1/2" tall plastic square.

Eightdotno, I've attached pix.

Bubba, three screw ports is fairly significant on a blaster with maybe 10 screws originally, and one of them was deleted when the original owner modified this to Level 2. To make matters worse, the screw ports are all in the same area. Regarding your final suggestion,on a Crossbow, æsthetics are vital.

I would suggest for this siuation, that you to saw off the broken marts that are stuck, drill out what's left, and then use some kind of bondo like material to make a new port.

In that case, fill the port with epoxy putty. Then, drill a new hole to rescrew the screws. If you know for sure that the blaster will never be opened again, just epoxy it shut. Hot glue could work if you may open it again. It really does suck if the ports are all in the same area... Losing 3 ports isn't the end of the world if spread out, but in your case, it really does suck. It may not be that bad however. I lost 2 ports in my longshot's stock, but it still held tight. But on a blaster like the xbow, you want your modification to be the best it can be. It really is a pain when minor things like stripped screws and broken ports get in the way of a big mod. Especially on such a precious blaster like the crossbow.
Yeah, aesthetics are very important in the vintage crossbow. Duct tape should never go near it...

Use solvent weld to reattach the posts and pack epoxy putty around them.
