Ah, the Titan. The gun with probably the biggest airtank I've ever seen in a stock gun. This mod will give your Titan a removable barrel, AND allow it to shoot that mega missle that comes with it. Because who doesn't love shooting extremely large foam missles at other people.
Posted Image

Anyways, Let us begin. For starters, you want to take the whole thing apart.
Posted Image

Then, take the pump out, and plug the overpressure release valve with some nice hot glue. It's not plugged in the picture, but it's the little hole at the end of the pump shaft for those of you who don't know.
Posted Image

Then, put the pump back in, and it's time to get rid of that safety feature that doesn't allow you to shoot above 45degrees. I did it because I'm not going to use my feet to pump this thing, so I'm not exactly worried about shooting my eyes out. I wear glasses anyways. See those little ball bearings? You want to get those out. I pointed out the screws you need to remove to get those little buggers out. Take the balls out, then replace those peices.
Posted Image

Alright. Now, close the whole thing up again, it's time to work on the barrel. Take a stub of sch40 or sch80 pvc and make it about one inch long. Then, sand one of the ends so it looks kind of like this.
Posted Image

After that, take your sander and sand out BOTH barrels, the one at the base of the titan and the one that screws onto it.
Posted Image

Good. Now, stick that little barrel stub into the base of the titan barrel, and glue it in. Make sure it's straight, as it'll make your life much easier. Well, sort of.
Posted Image

Now, screw that big barrel on over it, and drop the coupler in, and use something to smash it onto the end of the barrel stub. I used my stock EAB barrel. Whatever works for you. Now, you're probably asking why couldn't you just put the coupler on before you screwed the big barrel on? Well, that's because the coupler is the same diameter as the threads on the base barrel, so you won't be able to fit it on. However, go ahead and try it anyways if you want to. I'll be here, laughing at you. Haha.
Posted Image

Now, to make the actual removeable barrel. I just took 14 inches of SCH80 pvc, and wrapped some masking tape around part of it so it was semi-secure when I put it inside the barrel. Make sure you keep something at the back end of the barrel so your dart doesn't fall into the barrel stub. It's a pain when you're shooting, trust me. I just stuck a 1.5inch segment of 17/32 brass in the back so it keeps my dart there. And all put together, looks like this. The coupler allows you to have a removeable barrel, AND the mod allows you to still use that uber-cool mega missle they give you.

Testing for ranges done at 23 pumps, little to no wind, measured with a walking tape measure:
172'
174'
195'
AVG: 180'

I plan to do testing at lower pumps, but maybe in a few days.

Very good job. The pictures are very good, the labling is reminiscant of mine =P. Ranges would be nice, but I want to know the ROF. How hard is it to load a dart in the barrel? Would you take out the barrel and put the dart in the back of the barrel to load it?

Oh, and how many pumps would you say it takes now that it's plugged?

Good job, I think you have the whole line under your belt as of now... it's a great place to be; in the NH mods section.

Keep these write-ups coming Ompa!

Not in the game anymore, but it was great while it lasted. Thanks for the great years of fun, NH!

ROF isn't that bad, it's fairly quick to reload. Only problem is the 20-25 pumps it takes to prime once plugged... But it can still shoot at lower pumps.

Fantastic, ompa! Completed the whole set in record time!

Not that it ends the modification process for the rest of us; but it gives us a baseline and guideline for what we can expect when we open ours up.

Notice I said "when"....the damn N-strike hasn't hit the shores of our little islands yet. Oh well, I had to wait almost a year before getting a Max Shot, so I guess I'll have to be patient and watch y'all fix up your N-strikes, until....

It really doesn't end it at all. There are a bunch more mods that could be done to these guns, all different and unique. Of course, if anyone would send me a *free* N-Strike set, I'll gladly make them and post them here ^_^ .

And someone remind me to never post mods on NHQ again, I'm getting flamed in the hornet thread... It's just not worth it.

Wow. So accurate...

I did your mod, but with SCH 80 Stub and coupler, and seem to get better ranges. I get more around 110+ feet PTG, accurate as hell... Now all I need is a scope or red dot sight... http://www.walmart.c.....3A4155:112165
man, that would look awesome on the Ttan. Too bad it's $44.44  .

The thing is accurate as hell. And I used to think my X-bow was accurate... and it was, but this thing is even more accurate than my X-bow. Using the SCH80 pvc stub should get better ranges, as there's less space for the air to go into before it reaches the dart, resulting in higher pressure behind the dart. I would have used it, but the sch80 pvc was all the way downstairs, and I was just that damned lazy. I have an extra red-dot sight, but I've found that the sight on the Titan is actually not that bad.

Couldn't you have taken a dremel and gotten rid of the other air restrictor deeper in the barrel stub?

I know that Wal-Mart's website sells them, and they ship to Hawaii, so you may be able to get the N-Strike from there, Piney.

My Titan is in pieces at the moment, and it has been that way for at least two weeks now, because I simply haven't gotten around to working on it. To solve the pumping problem, it may be possible to route a larger airtank that can be carried around, and use it to fill the Titan, improving its ROF.

Interesting fact: I shoved my old tippman 98c stock barrel into the coupler with a paintball, and DAMN it flys. My guess is about 150', if not more. Interesting, how a nerf gun can equal some of the worse paintball guns out there.

What, the paintball thing? Try it- I think you might be suprised at how well it works.

I'm attempting a longer barrel, ok, maybe just saying longer is an understatement-it's a 19 inch long barrel. But hey, at least it SHOULD be more accurate...

Nice mod ompa. I didn't even see this thread at first. There's so many damn topics entitled "Titan" or "N-Strike" these days. 180'?! Now that rules. I need to get my hands on one of these sets, it just looks too good to pass up. Anyway, awesome job opma, for the whole N-Strike line. Modding three guns in that short time can really take it out of you.

I did the barrel later, a few hours after I did the mods on the gun itself. I had to go downstairs to eat. Oooo yeah, that's right, I just pulled an excuse right out of my ass.
