Hello I'm newish to Modding I've modded my stryfe just basic rewire and switch replacement with a power strip on off switch it's ok running on 4 aa batteries but recently I went to a thrift store and bought a hornet after gutting the tank for a projects I'm working on I realized that the stock on the hornet was pretty comfortable so has anyone ever integrated the hornet stock into a stryfe? I was unable to find one what do you think should I do it would it be cool btw this is my first post

Not in my memory, but it might be somewhere on the Modifications Picture Thread. If not, you're the first to come up with the idea.

 

Either way, it sounds like a good idea. Go to your local ACE Hardware and get some Epoxy putty; integrate it and show it off. It sounds like a good way to recycle a fairly comfortable shell. 

 

I personally don't like the size of the stock on the Hornet, but that's because I'm 6'3". As a matter of fact, almost every blaster with a stock is a little short, except for a Retaliator stock on a Stryfe; that's too short to work.

Yah I can't get epoxy puddy parents won't let me buy it if I do it I will probably just connect it with super glue,hot glue and liquid epoxy any thanks for the reply is your crossbow the original 1995 version if so that's so cool I have always wanted one

If you can't do the mod right, you will be much better off waiting until you can instead of doing a poor job and ending up with an ugly uncomfortable blaster you hate using and don't want to show off. I've messed up several mods by not waiting until I had the right parts or tools. Did your parents say why they don't want you buying the putty?

Parents think modding is a waste of time and effort they don't think it's cool they say I have to many guns I only have like 8 that's why. thanks for the advise

There's a fine line between making requests and just annoying your parents, but maybe if you offered to do some things they want you to do (not normal chores, but things you normally aren't expected to do) they would come around? If they say no, obviously don't argue, but perhaps make the offer.

Stephen, if you've already got access to liquid epoxy and hot glue, you've got the adhesives you'll need. Tack weld the shells together on the outside with the hot glue, then apply the liquid epoxy on the inside. Clean the hot glue off, then apply some more epoxy on the outside.

Regarding the parental apathy, the impact of your sales pitch depends less on what you say and more on how you say it. They might be surprised at how many engineering-types nerf!

And, yes it is the 95. I had wanted one since a Coop772 vid showed up in my "recommended videos" panel on YouTube. Buying it got me into hot water with my parents (college student btw), so I understand.

Mechanical engineer by profession here. A lot of the same skills I use at work I also use when modding. Things like understanding mechanical systems, coming up with solutions to problems, even being able to calculate forces on parts.

And Maniacal Coyote is right, you don't necessarily need epoxy putty. Hot glue and liquid epoxy should do the job just fine.

I'm an engineering student, currently, and this hobby made me decide to go back to school.  In my case, it is my wife who tells me I have too many, and thinks modding wastes my time.  She is correct on both accounts.

Mechanical Engineering student. My Nerf hobby made me want to be a mechanical engineer, and got me an internship once I got here. Graduating in May.
