Nerf war in Woodland Park near shelter #1 on Saturday 1/7 at 11:00 AM. I have enough extra darts for two or three people so please bring your own if possible. I also have a few stock loaner guns. Eye protection and long sleeves are suggested because I am allowing FVJ darts.  There are no specific modding restrictions, but anything that can break skin is not allowed. All ages welcome, but no unaccompanied minors. I am unsure of how many people will come, so I don't know what game types we will play.

Have you asked to see if this is ok? As I've been to wars were we have been asked to move, and at 2pm dusk is at 4 to 5-ish. Also I would post war threads a week or two in advance. Also Titans and Hydrocannons should be banned as they shoot 300+ fps and can break skin at close range, and have you hosted wars before?

I also may be going.

Whats being practical? A modded Stryfe or a modded Defender t3 at war and everyone else has Rapidstrikes? I'll take my luck with the Defender t3.

I would be interested in going and have been involved with wars in the greater Seattle area for years. I have also have some questions/notes
- are slugs and or domes allowed? My understanding of FVJs are they are esentially solid tipped stock darts.
- have you checked for reservations of that site?
- in the past we have had slight issues with unaccompanied minors from a liability standpoint to the point we put a minimum age unless with a guardian.
-banned blasters are a good idea.

Let me know if you have any additional questions about war considerations!

Nisa!! long time no see.  It is good to see some people from back in the day still Nerf!

Not trying to highjack your thread, just want to give you some points in addition to what Nisabuso said:

-Be very clear on your rules, think things through.  EX: barrel taps? do you allow people to tap other players with thier blasters instead of shooting them? Headshots? do you encourage them or out time ban them?  Melee weapons? Shields? The list goes on.  These are just a few things to consider.  Thinking things through all the way saves everyone the hassle and trouble of running into these circumstances.  Go over the rules of each round before it starts.

-Eye protection should be mandatory, especially if you are allowing minors to participate.  Don't want to get yourself in trouble with an upset parent if they accidently get hurt.

-minors: anyone under 18 should be accompanied by an adult.  You are not their baby sitter and you don't want that responsibility.

-Blaster restrictions should be considered.  When I ran my wars I allowed anything under 150'.  If anything could shoot over that is banned or it needs to have multiple barrels to reduce range.

-Check the dates for the site.  make sure you are not over lapping with another event scheduled for that day.  also give ample notice, 1 month is ideal but at least 2 weeks.  People need to get time off work or plan for it.  I would have loved to have come to this but I already have plans for this day.

-Dart restrictions.  Go over what type of darts you allow.  Slugs ok? Glue domes? Keep things nice and clear on what you want at your war.

-Have a rough agenda for how you want the day to go, game wise. Are you playing death match all day? Are you going to mix it up and add different game types?  If you haven't already I suggest reading through the war page forum and look up different game types.  Better yet, invent a new one!! Trying out new and different game types was one of my favorite things to do.

-Start time and end time: Give people an idea of how long you want to play.  Not saying all players will be there all day, but giving them an idea of an end time is a good idea.  Also, 2pm is a little late in the day to start, especially since it still is getting dark around 4-5 pm.  Try and have your wars at an earlier time, 11am is a good start time.

These are just a few example/things to consider.  This is your war and you don't have to listen, just want to help you get off to the right start.  If you have any questions or want more feedback don't hesitate to ask.  Nisaburo and myself have been in this game for a long time.  I'm looking forward to seeing how this goes!  I'm looking forward to the next one so I can participate and hopefully see some old Nerf buddies again!

Maaaan, If my wife weren't going out of town on Monday, I'd feel like I could drive up for this.  Have fun, folks!  I will also post a link to this thread in the PNW and Oregon Nerf groups on Facebook.  Hopefully we can bolster some numbers.

Have you asked to see if this is ok? As I've been to wars were we have been asked to move, and at 2pm dusk is at 4 to 5-ish.

We've used this location before without incident, though last time we were off in an isolated corner.  I don't expect it to be a problem, short of the freezing temperatures and possible snowfall.

- are slugs and or domes allowed? My understanding of FVJs are they are esentially solid tipped stock darts.

Worse, actually.  They are made of a harder vinyl that is rather unforgiving.  Honestly, I would recommend against their use in the cold.

Thank you for bringing up some of these things, this is the first war that I am hosting so I am not sure exactly the best way to go about things. I will be editing the post to answer some questions that I have seen, regarding restrictions and unaccompanied minors and so on.

Here is a great article on things to consider when hosting a war.
http://nerfhaven.com...ost-a-nerf-war/
We dont want to discourage you hosting, quite the opposite! We just want to make sure everyone knows what to expect so we can make the most of a somewhat rare Washington war!
