Hi I am new to nerf homemades, I was wondering if a pump snap could compete with other competition if I went to a nerf war.

If you're using a maxed out [k25]/26 spring, the actual blaster doesn't matter much. At the high end, you're concerned with the seal. If you do a pump snap, it'll do about as well as any other homemade with a similar draw, seal, and spring. The other catch methods are easier to machine (more costly, just easier to make reliably in any kind of quantity), less finicky, stronger, or allow different configurations. The SNAP is a great starting point; if you're doing your first blaster look at the Mark-8 too as it'll help you understand the concepts and methods.
