First post, so hi!

 

I'm looking to mod my first nerf gun, which is a Modulus ECS-10, and I'm just looking for some suggestions on what to do. Looking over the forums, I've found these motors to replace the stock ones, but I'm not sure if they fit, and what else I would need along with them. From what I read, ESCs are needed as well, however I'm unfamiliar with all of this, so a bit of background on this would be super helpful!

 

Other than that, my mod will be fairly simple, with a full rewire, safety switches removed, and a master on/off switch installed. I was also looking into a lipo, but I'm completely clueless on which to buy. The Modulus has some good frontside empty space, so it should fit nicely.

Welcome to nerf haven. Unless your trying to do full auto a esc is not needed. For motors get Rhino 130's and find a 2s or 3s lipo and your good. Get some 16amp microswitch for the rev trigger to decrease spin up time on the motors and you'll be fine.

I recommend 18AWG silicone insulated wire for its flexibility and make sure it's stranded for better current utility and lower resistance.

If you want to go cheap, then get a barricade and use those motors,with a 3s lipo (i recommend this one link, or something similar with a higher discharge rate)

Actually, this is more for an office work environment. We uh..have fun at work.

 

 

Edit: That being said, I was looking into brushless motors and custom flywheels, to possibly cut down on the sound. I'm also looking into what I can pad the inside with to reduce the sound as well. Would the Rhino motors above be ok, or is there something more quiet that I can use?

nope. rhinos aren't gonna be quieter especially since you're gonna be running at a higher voltage.

but if you wanna go cheap and your'e confident you can open up and reassemble a motor, i usggest buying some good carbon brushes and neodymium magnets for the stock motors. the can and armature aren't bad by much of a stretch, it's just the metal brushes and weak magnets that make them rev slowly and have current-handling issues.
