Central Park Nerf Outing (CPNO)
I like wars, I'm going to stack July full of wars because I'm fucking ready to make this summer wars almost every weekend. 
Let the darts hit the floor, slugs or eBay darts I'm just ready to fucking play. /hypervan activates

This will be a MOSTLY Superstock war. 150ish FPS homemades allowed, (This allows Snapcarbines, NF pistols, NF rifles, DCIT or those shorty barrels for homemades because I want to introduce more people slowly into homemade territory)

The war starts AT THE FIELD 11:45 am EST, on July 9th.

It may be rainy. No raindate, bring extra clothes just in case. Nerf in the rain is fun anyway

Put that into google maps, we're going to MEET here and start playing. People who've been to past wars know where it is. It's Centeral Park

RULES 
1)Don't be a dick. We'll ask you to leave, just cooperate and listen 
2)Anything you do that impedes the movement of the dart is a hit. From your shoelace to your blaster, to the fluffs of your hair and your loose t shirt.  
3) Don't dartsweep until the rounds over. If you're dead or waiting to spawn, you don't dartsweep. You may if you're alive, but the field has to be cleared so there's no confusion of who's in or not. 
4) I'm not going to outright ban any blaster, but you shouldn't be doing more than 150 FPS. basically, if you punch a hole through cardboard its a no.  
5) Call your hits. Cheating is despised and won't be tolerated,  
6) No physical violence, common sense applies. Don't do what you don't want to be done unto you. There's a police station next to where we play

All rules will be stated again on site to clarify.

Rounds are going to be shorter and fast paced, so we can have more rounds. Long drawn out rounds have not worked because there was so much attempted dartsweep

Don't worry, the rule is there to incorporate NF's and goofy shit that was made last minute. I have a tampon launcher I want to use so, yea lmao.

It'll end when people are tired, or if a lot of people leave so like 5-6. You can leave earlier. I would prefer stock darts but TBH IDC at all. no glue domes and shit, if it's unsafe it'll be banned. What darts do you plan on bringing?

I would be bring Voberry darts. I am asking because I like to have an idea what I will be getting hit with and it wasn't stated. I found that my glasses are fine for eye pro with stock darts. Now I just need to check on travel.

I reccomend getting down to NewHaven, taking a Grand centeral bound train down to Grand Centeral and walking up to the war. (or a bus/train if you want, 4 or 5 train to 86 should do it)

We play in the rain. If it does. It's just the morning anyway. Check NH, it'll be posted but the war is very likely going on. Nerf in the rain is fun, just bring extra clothes. It also means we would have a clear park, and we get to use more land. 

Rival is totally fine, someone else uses them already though so I'd mark my balls. Can't wait to see you there!

if your snap is shitty enough/has a terribad seal/ is single loaded/ sub 200 FPS, than you can use that. 
shit man I gotta bring extra sentinels that I don't have loll

rain is nice for heat, but also can clear out the park

So, due to recent events, I REALLY WOULD APPRECIATE, and I'm about to mandate, no camo, don't bring your tacvest. With all the recent shootings, lets look a bit more civilian. (lets not make ourselves a hashtag)

I'm going to wear a varsity shirt and cargo shorts, prolly gonna go shirtless and stuff. I have 3 extra blasters and darts so still show up guys!
Can't wait to see you all tommorow.

Woo-hoo, first recap. Didn't feel the need to recap CTNO, tl;dr there were mobstacles and snaps were broken. 

 

Some pros and cons....

 

Pros

• MINI pumpsnap was lit until I ran out of slugs.
•  CTF-both the offense and defence rounds were probably the most fun
• Intense wingman (?) fights
• Carbine 
• Everybody field stripping at some point
• Carbine 
• Pretty good field overall, I prefer trees and bushes for cover, and superstock ranges were just about perfect
• Meeting a bunch of new people
• 1v1 against carbine

 

Cons

• Took an hour to find a field, probably my fault but still
• VIP confusion
• Excess downtime due to reloading and field stripping
• There was a path literally in the middle of most of where we played, so we had to hold quite a number of times and even got one angry...asians lmao. 

Great war, would Nerf again, see ya'll at Mechout apoc.

PROS
-meeting all the cool people
-being very chill, and funny shit like dungeon master van
-fun rounds
-lots of sentinels
-seeing everyones blasters
-building and fixing shit at the war was hilarious
-a lot of people came from out of state
-the teamwork
-11 people showed up
-lit after party

CONS
-literally everything breaking

-the downtime
-the fucking dirt
-5 people flaked last minute RIP
-everyone lacking darts
-all the holds

THINGS TO DO
-Bring a tarp to sit on
-new, better location
-better working blasters
-less downtime
-possible large community bin, so there's less time sweeping every round
-making it easier to find the field

Ya'll made being host fun, it was a very fun day and tiring. I hate being responsible and planning shit but it was worth it today

Great location. Hope we do more of these. Thanks y'all for lending me darts and a Sentinel.

 

It's good to go back into battle after a few years! I was so tired afterwards, it took almost 24 hours to recover!

 

PROS

• Transforming Van into Gimp Hitler
• A Nerf war! In Central Park! Public transit! Bikes! Convenience!
• Great topography. Lots of cover but still good sightlines.
• Not interrupted as often as I expected. We had to hold every 20 minutes or so, which is great for CENTRAL PARK MANHATTAN.
• The People's Gun did great
• Mid-war modding with hacksaws
• Tactics! Strategy! Teamwork! Excitement!
• Grabbing sacks of balls
• Integration game on fleek
• I can still dodge
• Superstock > 80-ft standoffs
• Pistol round, with very inconsistent definitions of 'pistol'
• Got to field-test like 10 types of darts
• Good variety of game types and teamcomps
• You can never have enough Overwatch references
• Camcorder viewfinders
• Everything was lit
• Tacticoolness everywhere
• Sucker darts sticking to humorous surfaces
• Bum-rushing opponents mid-reload never gets old

 

CONS

• Too many players named Dave
• DX runs too much! Stahp
• About a foot of mulch and dirt in the staging area
• Couldn't use my Sceptor 
• Recovery took a full day, a TENS machine, and about 120mg of THC
• VIP devolved into bedlam almost immediately
• My Recon got dysentery and couldn't hold its clipamagazines in
• No one told me that BuzzBee blasters hold Nerf magaclips
