Could someone please tell me why there's a lack of NIC Nerf wars in Washington state this year? And if anybody finds one, could you please link it? Would greatly appreciate it.

Historically, there have been basically no NIC wars in Washington State. Too few community members too spread out. There was one up at Ft. Casey a few years ago, I don't know if they're doing that again or not. I think Montana had an active community for awhile, but that's an 8+ hour drive.

I have noticed this myself. There were very few last year as well. Where in Washington are you? My group has regular events every month down here near Portland. One of our regular attendees lives near Vader, and another family lives in Vancouver. You are welcome to attend any of our events.
If you can organize a war in your area, I may be able to coordinate a contingent of our people to attend. AgentWashington and I have even driven up to Seattle for a past war.

I live in Washington state and go to a nerf group located in Bothell (Kirkland for this summer)  but its a private group.

I've heard WalcomS7 lives in Washington but I don't know where he goes for nerf.

While researching this a bit, I just saw a nerf-gym is located in Des Moines (who plays there, however, I have no idea), and a few large-scale highschool 'Nerf Wars' played in the bad old fashion highschoolers are want to use (driving around with blasters and shenanigans). You'd obviously need to be a highschooler at said school for that to work though.

 

Really, I recommend starting up your own group. Post here and reddit so those in/around WA can see it, invite your friends, etc. etc. for a nice day in the park. If you've got the time free, just do it every weekend same time-same place or something. Who knows? Maybe then you'll get a community built where you are, and not hours away through grueling traffic.

Yeah, maybe I can look into starting my own thing. Really just finding a way to play in an NIC war where I live. Doesn't matter whether I host, or someone else.

If there's really nothing, it sounds like you'll need to take the initiative to start it.  You need to have the hunger to make it happen, another host is unlikely to pop out of the woodwork.  Obviously, check past wars on NH to see how they were organized, what works, what doesn't work, etc.  

NIC/DIY style events may be difficult to support at first, you may find more success starting with superstock and gradually progressing to NIC/DIY.  Superstock is widely popular and draws a lot of participants with minimal barriers to entry.  Get a baseline group of regulars and encourage an arms race.  Don't set an FPS limit, allow slugs, and let people mod up at their own pace.  It's better to have a few NIC/DIY rounds at a primarily superstock event and lots of players than none at all.  Ironically, many primarily NIC/DIY events now run some superstock rounds, and for the same reason - to encourage more people to come play.  If you can build up a large base of players, you can then exploit their varying tastes to support a pure NIC/DIY level event.  Just remember to keep your base happy by catering to all its needs, not just some.  If they want multiple styles of nerf, include multiple events or mixed events.
