Help with a concept for an easy selector switch rapidstrike

I've seen a lot of rapidstrike with arduinos in them to make it so they can burst fire or full auto, but I dont really know enough about programing to di that and I came up with this idea.

I plan to try and squeeze in a secondary momentary switch to the firing trigger with a selector switch earlier in the ciruit that switching between it and the original switch. The concept is that with the trigger retraction the momentary switch should stay on long enough to atleast move the pusher out enough for pusher retraction to kick in completing the cycle and firing a dart or maybe a couple depending on how long the momentary switch is active.

In theory this could work but I am posting it here first because I know very little about selecting switches and I dont wanna burnout a ton trying this out. So what I need help with is advise on a couple small momentary switches that should be able to take the abuse from a 130s running on a 3s

I don't know too much. But this doesn't sound like it will work. You're better off asking around to see if someone will share their code with you.

Hehe yeah used the wrong term and finally found the part I was looking for but ummmm not sure I want to use it for nerf its a capacitor based switch so yeah not gonna be very safe if its gonna have enough juice to start the pusher.

Your concept while sound isn't gonna nessacarily be feasible do to the way the trigger system works. The easiest way in theory would likely be to use a relay and a 3 position rocker switch, with both affecting the pusher motor similiar to how it was done for the stampede back in the day. I don't know enough about a rapidstrike internals to say with 100% certainty it would work though

I am working on a similar project using a chip to produce an output of a certain length using a type of monostable circuit using the 556 chip (2x555 timer). I have designed a circuit and PCB and plan on prototyping it soon to see if it works.

There is adjustable short time switches, this one can be set from 2 seconds to 5 minutes and will stay on for the set time when triggered once: https://www.kemo-ele...-Sek-5-Min-.php

 

You could use something cheap like this or build your own one cheap to have like a 500ms to 10s "on time"... Trigger it with your burst" switch and adjust the "on-time" 2 seconds, 3 seconds, I don't know to give you a 3 round or 5 round burst, switching off automatically after that. Sometimes there is cheaper solutions than putting a whole Laptop Computer inside ;)

Or you can build a very simple analoge circuit, you could even integrate that "free floating" without mounting it on a board: http://www.homemade-...-explained.htmlwhen putting an adjustable Resistor in, you can adjust the time.

Hey it is better than nothing don't beat yourself up. I can't wait to get one setup for Neno ordering mtb rhinos for it. Also I don't really understand the wiring diagram?

As a short summary of our private conversation (due to post/day limits on my side), for the benefit of everyone else that might try this:

 

The board / timer switch you linked should work pretty well. You have to connect a trigger to one side of the board and the circuit driving the motors to the other connectors. You can set the time the switch keeps running by a set of pins and jumpers (like on a PC mainboard). It's not well documented, so I can't tell you which pins/jumpers to set for a 3 second burst.

 

It may work full-auto too, if you keep pushing the switch, it will keep starting the timer over and over and when you release it, it will fire one final burst.
