I need some help modding 2 rapid strikes... I think the motors are burned out.  I upgraded the batteries to 3 ultrafires.... Since I am not sure what is wrong , I feel I might as well upgrade the motors and batteries..... I have no clue what to do.... I would rather NOT scavenge motors from a rhino which someone suggested.... If I can get some help , i have some Barricades I can trade or even pay a little... I might even have some other things you want in trade  I am in the Austin Area .... I'd like to work with someone geologically close

I would also like suggestions to REALLY ramp up a raider rapid fire / rampage. Spring? air restrictor ? lining the barrel?

For the rampage upgrade the spring, remove AR and that should do it unless you wanted to go so far as to make a brass breech.

The breach should be similar to this just modified slightly for the rampage [TUTORIAL] Brass Breeched Nerf Retaliator - YouTube

Rhino motors are not from the rhino fire so I can tell you are new. Go on google and look up make test battle than go to the store and get rhino motors

do NOT remove the AR in the Rampage unless you are reinforcing the plunger head.
That will kill the plunger otherwise,

Go to containment crew's website to buy the MTB rhino motors, they are the US distributor. Don't remove the AR in the rampage, just upgrade the spring.

To start: Trustfires aren't a good idea, as they can be dangerous. Try IMRs (see here) or do this with an NIMH battery pack.

How did you hook up the trustfires? Did you wire in a new battery tray or something? Are you sure it's wired right? Is there any way you can try it with the stock © batteries, to see if it works?

If it's definitely wired right then I'd have to guess, you are probably either tripping a thermistor in the blaster or in the batteries (if they are "protected" trustfires). Although I don't recommend using trustfires, try running 4 AAs or two trustfires instead of three trustfires and see if it works then.

In general I would suggest laying off the electric blasters for now until you learn a little more. Or at least start with a stryfe.

For a beginner, I would suggest getting this spring and this catch spring for your rampage. Don't bother with the "Unleashed" kit.

I tried several motors. The best replacement is PN Racing 70 turn Mini-Z RC motors. Get rid of the Trustfires. They cannot handle the wattage demand from good motors spitting a dart out. Switch to a 2S 7.4V Lipo battery. They take a special charger you can get online for about 30. 1800 Mah is a good fit. I use Turnigy Lipos from Hobbyking.com.

thanks for the advice Guys, still hoping to find a modder local. I had help modding the rapidfires the first time.

For the Rapid Stike: I found the Containment Crew site.  Is the 12volt battery the highest? Is there a voltage you recommend ?  BEX: is that motor you recommended from RHINO site

I see y'all interchange Ultra fire and Trust fire so I would guess they are the same, I am hoping to upgrade to a lithium battery..... something I dont have to remove each time would be great..... just a recharge port added to the rifle.Any body here ever do that?

For the rampage: I do think I want to do a brass breach. I knew about removing the AR. I did not know about reinforcing the plunger.... that may explain issues with my sons . I do want to upgrade the spring,

BTW I am a swordsmith by trade.....  I got into modding blasters for my sons.  The kids on our block love having nerf wars but they are rough on there blaster.... so repairing went to upgradfing

I just had to reply when I saw that you are a swordsmith. I build wooden swords as a hobby(made up or modeled after a movie or game) and I am going to take the step up to steel soon. Great job on the sword.

Nerf related-keep up the good work. Modding is a fun and addicting hobby(it is for me) and just remember that the sky is the limit!

P.S.-That was my inspirational speech for today. ;)

You could use either of the motors listed on Containment Crew's website...both are made available by MakeTestBattle. If you use the Rhino motors to replace the flywheel motors, use no more than 11 or 12 Volts (3S LiPo). If you use the Honey Badger motors to replace the flywheel motors, use no more than ~7.4Volts (2S LiPo or 6S NiMH).

Bex is recommending something other than the Rhino motors, and I don't know much about them.

Keep in mind that you should never charge a LiPo inside of a blaster/while it's hooked up to anything. LiPos can be dangerous if used/charged improperly. However, the Rapidstrike has that nice big spot where the stock batteries go. It easily fits a LiPo and lets you access it easily for charging. Like Bex said, Hobbyking has good, cheap LiPos plus they sell chargers.

And just in case you want to go a less-DIY route Blastertech in Australia sells a pre-soldered motor upgrade loom that also has a connector for LiPos. Or Tacticoolfoam sells a rewiring/switch kit (includes everything the Loom has but the motors, but you have to put it together yourself). Of course, you could also get switches (rated 10Amps or higher) and wire (at least 18 if not 16gauge) yourself.

And yes for our purposes at least Trustfires and Ultrafires are pretty much equally not very well suited for nerf blasters, especially those with new/upgraded motors.

Nice work on the sword by the way!
