Rapidstrike battery upgrade questions

So, a friend family member fellow nerfer got his butt handed to him by yours truly with a stock Demolisher.

He wanted better full-auto, which leads naturally to LiPos.

 

A few questions before we go buy and install the batteries and unleash the beast upon an unsuspecting sister of mine wall:

 

1.Where would we buy the aforementioned LiPos (I prefer physical stores because we don't have to wait for shipping)?

2.What is the dart destruction rate (i.e. x/100 destroyed)?*

3.Is it just like installing regular batteries, or do we need to do other stuff?

 

 

Anyone who knows this, can you please say?

 

 

 

 

 

 

*And by destroyed I mean rendered completely unusable in any foam dart shooting blaster.

1. Other than online, not many places carry suitable lipos. Maybe hobby shops?
2. Completely depends on motors and power delivery. Kinda rare though.
3. You probably will have to rewire it to get any useful amount of performance gain. A 3s lipo likes 18 gauge wire. Some shell work to house the battery will probably be required.

I agree with what Kilomona said. To add to points #3, you can get substantial ROF and FPS by installing a 6 cell NiMH or NiCd battery pack and avoid having to do any rewiring or motor swapping. Apparently using a 2S LiPo is too much for a stock Rapidstrike and will cause the themister (sp?) or some other wiring do-hicky to shut it down, although I cannot personally verify this.

A '6 cell NiMH or NiCd battery pack' would start at 9 volts and go down from there. So a LiPo doesnt compare to that and this adds onto my next point:

 

 

Apparently using a 2S LiPo is too much for a stock Rapidstrike and will cause the themister (sp?) or some other wiring do-hicky to shut it down, although I cannot personally verify this.

A 2 cell Li-Po battery is 7.4 volts. So in theory, your homemade 6 cell pack would cause the thermistor to shut the circuit down before a 2s LiPoly battery. Except I might be totally wrong because 'Thermistor' is defined as something that shuts down when at a certain temperature.

1. Go to a hobby shop, but usually RC shops have more of a range.

3. You should buy new motors if you want great performance without your motors burning out. A rewire of your blaster would also be needed if you want to upgrade your batteries to LiPo's. If you are new to wiring and such, it would be much easier if you bought an upgrade kit, and go from there. (Complete with motors, or Complete without motors)

Yes, in theory, it makes little sense that a 6 cell nickel chemistry battery pack would work just fine with a stock Rapidstrike, but a 2S LiPo pack will not. However, I have only used the former in multliple Rapidstrikes with no problem, but have never tried the latter myself. I have been corrected that a 2S LiPo will not work in  stock diddlerrike. Again, I am skeptical, but I wanted to inform the OP of what I had heard. Perhaps there are loose tolerances with Rapidstrike wiring and electronics.

Yeah sorry, forgot about the higher amperage, etc. and stress on the low quality wiring, a lipo at 7.4v, depending on its output, would most definitely not work.

I run a 7.4V Lipo in my stock Rapidstrike with no issues. The switches are the weak link.
