I had some brushless motors lying around so I decided to make my stryfe run on three phase AC. The motors I used are DYS 1806 2300 kv motors, which have a 2mm shaft and can run on 2-4S lipos. I also set them up with one 30 amp speed control, and an arduino using a potentiometer to control motor speed. The velocity on a 3S lipo exceeds 100 feet per second and the motors run almost silently. I will have more updates as the project moves on, but I have only completed preliminary velocity tests on 3 cells. I still need to figure out a way to house the arduino.

How hard is it to make your own flywheel cage , I need one for a project but I don't want to gut a good gun. I guess I would have to get measurements of a cage but then all I would need is flywheels. I could get them from Worker.

As far as housing. A shell integration might work. Firefly, raven, centurion. Would give you ample room to house and protect the board. This seams like an interesting project. Once its further in the process I would totally want to see a firing demo.

I dunno where your gonna fit a uno inside a stryfe. There's barely room for a mini or nano inside one

It is almost cheaper to buy a stryfe off amazon and gut it than it is to buy worker flywheels and have them shipped. It will also save you time.

See, that the problem, my mom hates nerf and won't let me buy another one, so I kinda have to make my own.

How's the spin up time compared to our usual modified motors? Does this grant any boost to ROF?

Making a flywheel cage isn't easy. It will be much harder with brushed motors.

The spinup time is actually slower, but they are so quiet I would feel very comfortable keeping them running. When I say quiet, I mean quiet. They are almost silent. I could not get the motors to slow down, even when finger banking at almost 8 darts per second.

That's extremely impressive, I'm curious how your utilizing the potentiometer in this case and if that isn't having bearing on it since the motors might be louder at full speed without any control

I am converting the value from the potentiometer into a PWM signal the speed control can understand. The speed control is calibrated for the motors, which helps to have a good sync and decrease noise. The bearings used in brushless motors and the lack of brushes also contribute to how quiet they are.

Edit: I will post the code today
