Okay, so after my full rewire, motor/switch swap, etc, I go to fit this 3s 1000mAh Zippy Compact, which is supposed to fit in the battery tray. But no matter how much I've dremeled, there is just no way the battery door is going to close.

It fits this way


But not this way



Is this maybe just a slight abnormality in the size of the battery pack?

What do you mean when you say it's "supposed" to fit in the battery tray?

Okay, I suppose I mean: "I've heard it fits in the battery tray with minimal modification". I've seen pictures of Stryfes with the same battery, with the stock door fully closed.

Then it's probably a manufacturing deviation, outlier, or oddity of the battery pack. That's my best explanation without seeing more. Some of the tolerances can be loose.

From what I've seen and read it takes a lot of whittling to get those to fit, and even still, the battery door ends up bowing out some when you close it. I'd recommend you either carefully take it down a bit more on the battery door and Stryfe shell and if that's not an option, as in you have already taken off all you can I do know there is a replacement battery door out there made by one of those guys who don't the 3d printing. I'd have to look for it to find the exact link, but it is out there. It adds like another half an inch in hight to the stock door, and it a complete replacement part that looks pretty nice.

Heh, funny, that's the same place I bought the MTB Rhino motors, but I didn't think I'd need the battery door :/ Thanks for the suggestion!

Maybe your battery is greater than 35C? I believe that could explain the added thickness?

UPDATE:

 

After much deliberation, I went all in on the expanded battery door.

 

Still needed to dremel out quite a bit of the door itself, this time for the height of the LiPo, rather than the depth.  But all said and done, it fits.
