Actually, adding AN add on the side wouldn't be that bad, at least I don't think. Maybe there should be a poll about it

So put up ads?

Think about it; having a few ads on NerfHaven could work. Say, one ad right below the first post on a page, and maybe every five or ten posts.

What to do with the money? Feel free to offer suggestions below.

Maybe (I voted yes because I don't really care but I would whitelist nerfhaven on AdBlock if we did use ads, but that wasn't an option in the poll)but I think we would be treading on thin ice between one ad and Nerf mods and reviews (they had 3? 4? ads near the end of their lifespan) Also I don't know what ads would be worth using since this site is mostly NIC nerfers and Orange Mod Works and other companies like that cater mostly to HvZ players. And let's face it, I don't think we need a giant McMaster-Carr advertisment on every page.

Does NH need money to continue operations?

Either way, I like the idea of write up submission contents. Maybe that'll keep users here and off of other sites?

Yes, it currently operates off the generosity of Langley, VACC, and other admin/mod staff. It takes money to pay for the domain name, server space, upkeep, and etc.

Ideally the number would be kept to a minimum, they would be hand-picked by staff for appropriateness/quality, and they would be unobtrusive. One at the top and side wouldn't interfere with browsing. I think it's been discussed after news posts, and usually the consensus is that it'd be for non-members/not-logged-in members.

If they start raking in cash, the extra would probably go back into the community somehow - contest prizes and etc. That's somewhat unlikely though.

So Langley & Co. are using their own personal funds to keep NH running?

Bring on the ads!

I say go for it! The forum's gotta get funding somehow to keep the website up. And if ad-blocker is enabled, you can normally put something beneath where the ad would be, so there could be a link to the donations page from there.

USER WAS WARNED FOR THIS POST

PLEASE CHECK THE POST DATE NEXT TIME. NERFHAVEN, FOR THE TIME BEING, WILL BE AD-FREE, SINCE THE DONATION SYSTEM IN PLACE IS WORKING QUITE WELL.

I think one or 2 ads, especially for companies that vend components used in mods and or homemade stuff is fine. Lowes, home depot, ace, McMaster carr, Amazon they all seems viable as ads since all carry stuff we use, could even include ebay since there are blasters a components available there also.
