Powerful motors

Are there any 180-size motors better than 3rd gen Xtreme Pro 180's

Exotics are just fine. I just want to know are there any better ones.


Torque is the main focus, rpm will still be important, but not as much.

Torque is the focus, not rpm!

Why do you need super high torque... The fps comes from rpm the load of the darts comes from torque. So heavier darts would be the only benefit and it might hit harder but it would not go as far and would have greater slippage on the darts.

I just want to know. Torque is for the efficiency. That doesn't mean I don't want rpm.

EDIT: The flywheels I'll use will make slippage more minor of a problem.

Probably a little of all three. If, like me, a person is unfamiliar with ridiculously overpowered motors, that person, like me, doesn't care enough to answer.

Reasons include:
  • Most people don't use 180's because they require you to allow the back end of the motor to hang out of most shells.
  • People who do use 180's are not usually concerned about finding models with exceptionally high torque, since they already exhibit higher torque than similare winds in the 130 size.
  • Even the fastest flywheels are limited in actual dart projection distance, if not volume throughput. The war I was at last Saturday illustrated this well, when I could simply wait for the Rapidstrike wielder to empty his clip, then take two steps and peg him with a single dart from my RainbowPup.

there is only so much you can do vs slippage i suppose the torque would help with heavier wheels too...

1. There will be no shell.
2. With the metal flywheel cage and concave grooved flywheels, slippage will be lessened.
3. In a war, once I stop firing, I won't be there.
4. Special darts will be used.
5. I just asked if there was such a thing; it's my problem what the downsides are.

More torque helps to spin up flywheels faster, and to keep them near max speed while firing quickly. Especially since you're using metal flywheels, I can't blame you for wanting more torque.

That being said, I don't know of any 180-size motors with more torque off-hand...in fact, I don't even know how much torque an Extreme Pro 180 has. Do you have a link to a spec sheet for them? Also You say that RPM isn't as important, but what's a minimum RPM? There are plenty of motors with more torque (not necessarily in a 180-size can) but the trick will be finding a motor that still spins fast enough while having more torque.

Overall suggestion: If you really do need more torque, perhaps you should look into a larger size motor (like a 300-series)? That's what's in the Nerf Rival Zeus.

Wow. I didn't know the motors wer different in the zeus. Are there any sources confirming this? Can you send a link the motor model (an example is mabuchi)?

different ammo as far as i know few mods there was one that was full auto at 11v looked beastly

Never said I was using darts in a Zeus. Sure, I was going to use darts in a rapidstrike, though.

was saying that for the purposes of you likely have hundreds of darts where as just getting into the zeus you would only have the ammo it came with if you were to pick this up for modding a fundamental expense rises across the board new ammo stock pile new mag stock pile if your purposes are for a nerf war with shock and awe factor i dont see it being all that useful that said i can see nerf phasing out darts for this. engineering can only take the darts so far.
