Hey guys

I have less experience in electricity and circuitry, so I have some inquiries.

I'm planning to do a motor replacement for my (fully rewired) Stryfe.

I have been using stock motors and they perform fine. I just want to step up my game.

So the motors I chose were Tamiya Power Dash 130 Motors.

Now, I did do a replacement with Sprint Dash motors but I used 4 Ultrafires and just totally wrecked those batteries.

So, my question is,
If I pump 12v or 16v into Power Dash motors, will it be alright? Will the same happen to these batteries?

All Tamiya motors are made to run on 3V, and will cook themselves if you run them at even double that voltage (6 V) for more than a few minutes. Either stick with the stock motors on 3 trustfires or get better batteries (IMR or LiPo) and do a proper upgrade. You could use your Power Dash motors with a 1S LiPo (3.7V) and get mediocre performance; Tamiyas aren't the best for nerf in general, and the Power Dash is just a mid-range Tamiya motor. The stock motors on trustfires will be better honestly, and that's saying something. I recommend using Blade 180 motors, these motors from eBay, or waiting on the new Rhino 130 to be released.

Edit: The price is screwed up on that eBay listing, I'd wait until they fix it or search around on the Nerf Reddit for more "Meishel" or "banshee" motor sources, which is what these are known as.

Thanks, but my story was the motors didn't get "cooked" . The batteries were the ones who got cooked LOL. Anyways, the motors
were performing fine for a few days then the batteries just died.

Did you try recharging the batteries? They may have just died.

Using trustfires with overvolted Tamiya motors is asking for catastrophic failure. People have reported trustfires exploding in things like flashlights. What happened in your case was the motors couldn't supply the amount of current that motor wanted at that voltage, that's why the batteries fried before the motors. If you tried the same motors with a 4S Lipo, I doubt those Tamiyas would last more than a few seconds.

Drac, while an experienced and well-known Nerfer, has been out of the loop on flywheels for a while (although he has done a few proper flywheel builds amongst the mediocrity). There are better, cheaper options than Tamiyas and for a few more dollars you can get a Lipo and charger over a set of Trustfires + charger. If you have a Barricade, that has a good set of motors in it too.

Actually I was going to upgrade to a Lipo build soon. Although the initial investment cost is expensive.
Currently what I've planned is I'm gonna run it on a 2s build.
7.4 volts shouldn't be too terribly bad since the 20C discharge should make up for voltage.
On Power Dash motors it should work fine.

Use the eBay motors linked above and run them on a 2s LiPo. Look up "Bobolobo Meishel motor stryfe" And you will see why eBay motors linked above reign supreme
