This is my modification guide to my Nerf Firestrike^2
Tools Needed
-Philipshead Screwdriver
-Plier Snips
-Hot Glue/ Epoxy
-Nerf Firestrike
-Nerf Doubleshot
Optional
-Dremel (Makes cutting the plastic A LOT easier)
-Exacto/ Razor blade
The first thing to do is grab the Doubleshot's air restrictor system, I had one lying around. but it's as simple as grabbing a Doubleshot from your local retailer and disassemble it for the AR.
Once the shell is taken off you can then get to work!
Here's the best part, all of the screws are the same size! so no need to memorize where they go! Also you can either toss the Firestike's Light or keep it for a later project
The first thing that we should work on is the Firestrike's AR system. It's relatively easy to take apart, you just have to wiggle it around a little bit until everything comes off.
Lift up one of the sides and pull it off
Almost the same with this. Just lift and pull.
This ones a little more difficult. Sometimes they have glue on these parts so it makes it harder to come off. I was lucky and didn't have to worry about it. So what I did is I used my trusty screwdriver
to lift one of the orange tabs off the plunger tube. Then once it came off the all I had to do was lift up the other tab. You can either scrap it or save it for a project.
Next comes some cutting. You're going to cut the plunger tube of the Doubleshot to fit it onto the plunger tube of the Firestrike. Good news they overlap snuggly!
I marked where I wanted to cut the Doubleshot's plunger tube to help prevent dead space.
Once the tube was cut I placed it onto the other plunger tube. I then used high temperature hot glue (this stuff is beautiful to use, it's almost on par with epoxy!)
Next comes the shell cutting!
The two posts that held the old AR system and the N-Strike rail attachment point have to be removed in order for it to fit in snug. Just snip those out and either sand them or use a razor blade to smooth it out
And once it's done you can fit it in and put the shell back on.
Then you have yourself a Firestrike^2!
These are the ranges with stock internals
(Angled Shots)
Stock Form:
Shot 1: 60 Feet
Shot 2: 65 Feet
Shot 3: 62 Feet
Modded Form
Shot 1: 56, 54 Feet
Shot 2: 55, 51 Feet
Shot 3: 59, 52 Feet
The ranges are cut by a few feet but it's worth it for the rate of fire increase.
I'm pretty satisfied with the results, I will add better internals in the future
