I have access to a laser cutter that can cut nylon rainbow catches and I can cut them quickly, so my question is can I make nylon rainbow catches and will they break or not? P.S. its 3/8 thick

Typical rainbow catches are made of polycarbonate, 0.25 in wall thickness. There is material data for both polycarbonate and nylon out there, and some very simple formulas you can use to approximate the forces that may be experienced. There are also spring load approximations on the NIC Spring database.

TL;DR probably

Thanks arowmech just wondering so will 3/8" nylon hold a [k26]

P.S if you have a local library check if it has a maker space / lab because most likely it has a laser cutter/3D printer.

I was going to say... Delrin is definitely better for laser cutting. Nylon would melt all over and be gross, I think.

Nylon isn't as terrible as HDPE on a CO2 laser cutting table, but they both just get melty and usually just melt back together at the cut lines. Delrin will work on a laser cutter, 3/8ths should be thick enough but if you are worried about the thickness, you could try laminating two pieces together via solvent welding.

Some laser cutting tables are capable of cutting aluminum, you should check to see if yours can (it may need a specific lens).
