I've seen a few mods in which the plunger tube is replaced with something either beefier or straight up homemade. I’ve made a few homemades myself but haven’t gone into the super deep end of modding outside of some simple AR removals.

Are there any “gotchas” that I need to consider? My plan is to keep the stock breech and mag system on a blaster (haven’t decided which one, maybe a Longstrike) but replace the entire plunger tube and rod with something homemade. There are some considerations for opening the breech but that doesn't look terribly hard to come up with something either.

Am I missing something? So long as I seal the plunger tube end to the breech and can manually open the breech to reload while compressing the spring, I should be good right?

I haven't tried something like that either but I'm thinking of making a custom plunger tube and rod. However, if you want the basis watch this video (https://m.youtube.co...h?v=d-o7iJ9ThXk). It is psyk's modified retaliator plunger tube. That should help you, but to my extent I would use pvc that is clear or polycarbonate tubing and then shrink the connection with other pieces of pvc to fit the breech. Hope this helps.
