Where can I find electrically controlled valves that could be configured to let out only a short burst of air at a time?

There are electronic valves used for underground sprinkler systems that can be opened quickly, and some people use them for homemades. I'm not sure if they can be configured in a way to do what you want though. They are sold at most hardware stores, which is a huge plus.

There are many different solenoid valves available from a myriad of industrial sources, including McMaster-Carr, Grainger, and Fastenal, or on Ebay and Amazon. Sprinkler valves are available at most big box home improvement stores, but may be overkill for your project. If you could provide more specifics, we may be able to help more.

Now that I think about it more, I could use a valve that opens when given current, and closes when the current stops. I would just have to use some type of mechanical device in the trigger to quickly flip a switch on and off again. I will let you guys know how my project turns out, if it works.
