My acrylics are not adhering at all to my vinyl dye basecoat. I don't plan on getting enamels. Is there something I should do between vinyl dye basecoat and acrylic handpaints to get them to stick?

Did you sand the material well before you applied the vinyl dye? And make sure the brush is dry before dipping it into the paint.

What brand of paint are you using?

Or hell, Spiderbite has sweet deals on this stuff now, so there's really no reason not to Rainbow.

Did you accidentally get a gloss vinyl dye? I did that myself. I used 600 grit green polishing paper to gently knock the shine off before I painted over it.

I also use craftsmart acrylics. I've tried them without any base coat and they seem fine but never have I used a base coat yet which I definitely will.

Odd, I use craftsmart with the duplicolor base coat all the time and have not had any problem with my projects. I usually shake up the paint bottles pretty good before starting and I lay down a thin coat and let that dry. I've gotten the best results by laying down thin coats, giving it 15-20 mins before the next. It's time consuming but it comes out well.

I just finished this project not too long ago
