I'm not sure if there is another post for this, but I looked around and didn't see one so I figured what the heck. When I was looking at the modulus videos on YouTube I saw a new line of nerf ball blasters called Rivals. I'm sure you have all seen it so I was wondering what your opinions are? Me personally, I'm super excited because I played with the original nerf ball blasters when I was a kid. We trashed those poor things.

The most appealing thing at my first look was the way you can reload your rounds so quickly, easily, and on the go. (Big slowdown with many dart blasters.)

I think they're intended to as an improvement from their dart-tag game, give Nerf a market for a competitive, indoor replacement for paintball.

I just want to know that those little things (though denser) pack a punch, and you'll actually feel a hit from a good distance away.

Yeah, if it is solid foam and the foam is anything like the old ballistic ball foam, I think accuracy and range would suffer greatly. Hopefully the foam rounds are made of a very dense foam or are weighted in some other way. Regardless, I'll probably still be buying the Zeus whenever it comes out.

They will almost certainly be made of polyurethane foam, like the Scepter balls and stress balls. EVA foam (craft foam, ballistic balls, Buzzbee Xtreme darts) is not dense enough to get very good ranges. No mater how much pressure you sling a ballistic ball with, it only travels about 65 feet, due to the low mass and high wind resistance.

Here's some info: video breakdown on Rivals based upon what was seen at this year's New York Toy Fair.

I must say, I wasn't excited for these at first, but after looking in to them, I'm hyped! I will be the nerd in the store shelling out $100 for the guns and refills lol.

I am fairly excited for the Rival blasters. I like that they are marketing to an older crowd now as well. The design of the Rival Blasters also sticks out in my mind, I really love the way that they look.

I must agree, the design isn't bad. Could be a lot worse for a hopper-esque system.

I'm just hoping it's not gonna be an awkward middle ground between nerf and airsoft/paintball with the advantages of neither. But that will show with time and testing.

Honestly, I am also excited, but they are seriously gonna mess up stock wars. With higher range and power, their only downside in the ammo system. Currently the max ammo you can have in one mag is 12, and 12<35/25/18. Also, the balls will be a pain, since no one is shooting balls back at you, so you have to supply your own ammo. However, there is one thing everyone has forgotten to mention, and this is going to be the selling point for me... THEY'RE BULLPUP!!!

Zeus MXV-1200.

Apollo XV-700.

I think it's hilarious Hasbro is trying to market to the NiC, especially with a flywheel golfballshooter flagship.

The 'new ballistic ball' is reportedly .9" diameter and divoted like a golf ball.

"MXV-1200" = Motorized 'X'tra Velocity, twelve ball magazine. Multiplying the capacity by 100 just sounds better I guess.
