I am thinking about making foam rocket-style ammo out of pool noodles. Any recommendations as to what I should use for the dart heads?

(I'd probably fire these puppies out of my Hyper Cannon, but I might re-fit my buddy's Titan to take these also.)

Any suggestions for what I should use as the "dart"-heads?
I need something relatively soft, similar to the Titan missile's dart-head.

Yeah, I might have some suggestions.
Use one of the standard rocket barrel sizes, so that yours will be compatible with other players:
  • 1" (my style)
  • 2" (XXL Bazooka/Ultimator)
  • 40mm (Titan)
1" Is by far the easiest, and most efficient for range/pressure/tank volume. If you want sleeves for the 1" size, let me know. They greatly improve the performance and longevity of the rockets.

For noses, I use stress balls cut in half. The 2.25" size fits the best for most noodles. The 2.5" size gets kinda heavy, reducing range. The 2" size gets the best range, but you end up having to chamfer the the edge of the noodle to match the ball diameter.

I like to use craft foam for fins. You can tilt them slightly, to get spin, but don't do more than like five degrees.

These are examples of the ones I make.

Where do I get 2.25" stress balls for cheap? Don't give me a warning for a "stupid question"; I've never seen somewhere I could get them cheap.
By the way, I'd be getting the pool noodles from a local 99cent store.

First, chill. It isn't a stupid question, and we really aren't assholes.

I searched all over for stress balls a few years ago. The best prices I have been able to find, for new balls, come out to a little over $1 each from Oriental Trading Company. Plus shipping, unless you get up in to the $50 order range. If you don't want to buy a crap ton of them, but still want new, You may be able to find some at party supply or gift stores locally, and Amazon or Ebay online. But you'll pay more.
For used stuff, I have had good luck gleaning good condition stuff from my local Goodwill Outlet. If you don't want to wait to find them used, I would be happy to pass on some of the good condition balls that I have on hand, for the cost of shipping. I seem to have quite a few that look like planets. *shrug*.
If you decide that you want to go with the 1.0" barrel size, I can set you up with sleeves, balls, and a barrel.

I know you're probably going to use pool noodles, but I would also highly recommend the slit-less pipe insulation that some hardware stores carry. I have used it for rockets before and it was fantastic to work with.
