Hi I'm new here. I just did my first mod today. I took a Stryfe, replaced the acceleration switch, put in 18 gauge wire, 180 motors, and a lipo. When I went to test it, it was noisy and had a lot of vibration. I just thought the flywheeels weren't balanced, and I figured it wasn't too big a deal. But then one of the flywheels just locked up altogether. I opened it up, and I found that the inside of the flywheel had been rubbing up against the bottom half of the cage. What I think happened is that the friction got it hot enough to melt the flywheel and cage together, and that's when it seized up. Also, I'm pretty sure the motor is ruined, because when I try to spin the shaft, there's a lot of resistance in certain spots. I noticed the same thing is happening on the other flywheel too, although that one hasn't seized yet. Has anybody else had this problem? Any help would be appreciated!!

It just looks like you pushed the flywheels too far down when you reinstalled them. There should be a little gap.

I wish I had known this before. Although I don't see how I would be able to tell what the gap is, since the side of the flywheel comes down over the motor. But thanks for the helpIt just looks like you pushed the flywheels too far down when you reinstalled them. There should be a little gap.

You'll probably find the motors are ok. You do feel resistance in certain points when spinning them with your finger. Just test them and see if they work.
