I do all my stuff in Imgur so it is easier to post it to multiple places.

After picking up a Rapid Madness I sort of fell in love with BOOMco. The only thing that the line was missing was a clip fed manual prime.
Enter the Dynamag.
This blaster has one major flaw that would render it useless in a real game. The larger clips would slip and skip. The clips are loaded from the top and advance downward (in the direction of gravity) as the blaster is primmed. The larger and heavier clips (20rd and 40rd) would regularly skip barrels and cause it to be quite unreliable. It still fired every time it just missed some darts. (EX: Fire one dart, prime and it would skip 2-6 darts based on clip size, then fire the next dart on the line).

This was something I thought I could fix.
(This album is also a photo dump for the internals as well as highlighting a lock you can remove.)

Alright so that didn't work. The next day I went back for more after some community feedback and tried something new.

Stronger springs on the nubs that hold the clip in place.

Woo-Hoo, success!
With the modification complete I can use any clip size I want.
I do however recommend not using the 40rd clips.

Dynamag clip size compare and why you should not use 40rd clips.

Nice.

Quick and simple fix for a feature that should have worked in the first place. Here's hoping your efforts get noticed by BOOMco and they start manufacturing them with stronger springs.

Did you happen to try a thin layer of tape on the edges of the clips? This was the go-to fix for the Magstrike, just wondering if that method still hold some merit; it would be a lot easier for the common consumer to build up the clips than replace the springs.

A must-do for any serious player.

I have a rapid madness and love it. except the air bladder doesn't have enough capacity or force to finish even the 20 rd clip start to finish at full power... poor product design.

If Mattel had made the clip feed from ANY OTHER direction then there would have been nothing to fix. Why couldn't they stick with a horizontal feed like the rest of the line uses?

I did not apply tape to the clip as I am doing my best to not modify the clips and leave them factory original.

I'm not sure what you're looking for in an air power blaster. By forces of nature and science the current shot will never be propelled as far as the previous shot. There is less air pressure available as the blaster is fired.

It does do a fine job of clearing a 20rd clip. If you have an issue with the shots not being the same power try pumping it back up after each burst. Your next option is a bit more involved. A external pressure vessel feeding air in through a pressure regulator.

It does get through a twenty... But without pumps it's useless after 10 rounds. And a 40 would just be pointless. Trust me, and outside air source is in the works...

On what basis should I be trusting you?
I have my own Rapid Madness and am free to voice my own opinions and observations. You've not given me any evidence or proof of this "severe shot decay" that you've witnessed. I've not had the same experience.

I do recommend the 40rd clips and I like them. When using this blaster I actively keep the bladder topped off.

I'm not saying you're wrong but it sounds like you may need to make a play style adjustment if you expect to pump it back up at the same time you reload.

I did make a playing adjustment. I worked over a rapidstrike and run a drum instead. No pumps needed. No loss in power. No need for your aggro. I critiqued your toy, no need to go for the throat for it. It doesn't work for me as is. That's it. Sorry for the offence I guess?

Gentlemen, your both pretty

It does do a fine job of clearing a 20rd clip.

I'm glad we can agree. I, too, own a Rapid Madness and can concur that it does indeed cycle an entire 20rd clip.

If were feeling adventurous I could do a chronograph session and calculate average fps drop per dart fired, but I'd rather not. If you really crave the knowledge head on over to the Rapid Madness thread and we can banter over the finer points. For now, lets keep this thread about the Dynamag.

I did not apply tape to the clip as I am doing my best to not modify the clips and leave them factory original.

Fair enough, I just thought a clip mod would be the easiest for newbies to correct the feeding problem.

Seriously you need to write to BOOMco, tell them to put stronger springs in. Who knows, they may even give you some kickback for catching the flaw, the sooner the better.

I did reply with a bit of a verbal beat down. The gist of it is I am trying to figure out why you are reporting something different from what I observed/experienced or if it was just some BOOMco hate.
As I said I fell in love with BOOMco and I plan on primarying the Rapid Madness in my next HVZ game.

Oh no I like boomco they're great. You can't beat the darts until you go after market with nerf. Point shoot hit. This gun is great and the rapid madness is a blast to use. Just not dependable. As far as fps and range go I'm not the only one with the complain on the rapid madness.
[REVIEW] BoomCo Rapid Madness Unboxing, Review, & Firing Test:
Coop does a full review on them claiming the same issues.

Your mod on the dynamag is pure gold and props for it I will too be scrounging my spring box and doing a swap.

I shall look into this. The only issues I see are customer support actually getting the info to the engineering side of things.

Nice job, You have contributed a lot to the Nerf community. Good work. I like this blaster, I should make a run to Wally world to pick one up.

I haven't seen them in Walmart yet. I got mine off Amazon.

I saw one yesterday, in walmart when picking up some food. My local walmart was doing inventory though so that could have helped.

Just a question, I don't have a Dynamag myself to try it out, but couldn't one just rig a strong rubber band to hold the clip up to counter most of the gravity?
