To anyone who has painted one of these, how did you break it down? Or did you at all? I have given that pivot pin a little force but before I break it is there some trick I'm missing? I would like to get it torn down so I make sure I get a good paint job done on it. Thanks guys and gals.

I think that's a driftable pin.

There's no pan on the underside, right? Like a screwhead with no visible screwhead slots? If there were one of those, then you'd need to do something crazy, like superglue a dowel to the pan and twist it out.

It DOES have a flat head on the bottom of the pin. I was assuming it was to stop it from being pushed out of place maybe I'm wrong?

I can't seem to find a picture of this thing at all. Could you post even the most ghetto of pictures? It may end up being a screw without a head.

It looks to be a screw without a head. Similar to some of the jolt plunger head pins.
Psyk has a good removal method on his jolts that may help.
I'm sure there are plenty of other youtubers with the info on the jolt pin removal as well.
but basically if you can pry it up enough to get some pliers around it and twist it out.
If that isn't it, it may be solvent welded on just the bottom portion to where you can boil if for just a bit then pry it out.
The very last option is that it may be like a Jolts handle pin to where it is scored on the opposite side from the head and may require ramming it out with the pressure of a thousand stampeding bulls.
Those are the only 3 options I can imagine knowing Nerf

Personally, I'd ATTEMPT to score a flathead line in the pin (likely using a dremel cut-off wheel) in order to get it out, that would likely damage the surrounding plastic bits the least.

Barring that, glue a dowel onto the face, and hope it holds long enough to get the screw started. If you can find a nice pan-headed screw with the same length and pitch, go ahead and throw that in there when you're done instead of this "twist rivet" thingamajig.
